MB over the summer, no football for newbies?

Hi all,

I have eventually made a foray into the world of MB, had some free time this afternoon so placed my first bet and free bet- will find out later whether I did it right if I'm up a few quid!
However obviously it's the off season for football at the moment, so to do the bets I had to place on some wierd and wonderful leagues, one in Brazil I think--which for a brand new account I thought might look a bit suspicious?
Am I right in thinking that for newbies I'm best sticking to football till I get my head round it (in which case I'll probably wait till mid Aug and wait for the football season to start) or is horse racing easy enough? Aren't there extra rules I have to take into account with that?
And- could I do casino offers yet, or do I need a much bigger float , only started with £60 as I'm happy to learn bit by bit.

Ideally waiting for the football is the best bet tbh, but in the meantime try to stick to as big of events as possible - don't go for the lower and random country league stuff. Do some C4 racing on weekends (if you're comfortable with betting on the horses) but yeah to be honest I would wait a couple of weeks for the PL to start. Oh and I guess the Olympics starts soon...could do a few account openers on those events!

In the meantime you could do some of the casino stuff, but be aware that it can deplete your pot by quite a lot if you bust out of some offers and only start with £60.

Maybe read up a bit on MB, get a spreadsheet downloaded and have a play with it so you know what you're doing etc.

Hi thanks for that info. I think you're right, I've waited this long I can wait a couple more weeks till the season starts. I might try some Olympics stuff as well.
I did read up on how the horses work but the Rule 4 thing made me a bit nervous, so I'll put my time to good use doing other stuff I think!

Historically, some of the bigger books enhance their signup offers for events such as the start of the Premier League. IME the olympics doesn't offer much for matched bettors. If it were me, I'd hold off on sign ups until around 13th when the season starts.

Sorry, busy couple of weeks, didnt know there were so many replies!

I've actually signed up with Oddsmonkey now and am working my way through the signup offers they have listed. Taking it slow at present as I Don't want to sink loads of cash into the exchange to extend my liability, I'd rather earn it (in case I mess it up!!) but it does mean I can't do as many high odds as I'd like. Still, made about £80 profit so far so can't complain!
Typically the biggest win I've had so far is one I won at the bookies, if I withdraw that money now to 0 after 2 bets will they get suspicious or not care? I'm paranoid about getting gubbed at the first hurdle...
