I registered for Textbroker at the weekend and got accepted as a 4* writer. I immediately took the proofreading test and passed with 100% - I was so shocked!

Are there any other Textbroker workers here, I have a few questions?

Is it always this quiet?
Does any work EVER come through the proofreading section?
Is it best to get paid into paypal or bank account, and why?

Thanks :)

Re: Textbroker

Hi,
I'm with Textbroker too.
Sign up to as many topics as possible, as there is usually quite a range for level 4 writers like us :)

It doesn't pay as well as some others, but is is straightforward and useful to have as another bow for your arrow, and of course it pays weekly.

Make sure you also sign up for Team Orders too.

Hi

I've worked for them for three months writing content for websites and blogs. It was great at first, I received the right type of assignments with relevant subjects that I am knowledgeable in. Then, the team that dealt with allocating the work moved onto a different project and I've had hardly anything. What I have been offered has either been irrelevant to my knowledge or with an unrealistic timescale. However I did thoroughly enjoy the article writing - I completed editorial and feature level articles. They averaged out at approximately £8 (before tax as a self employed person) an article which was either a 500 or 750 word project.

I didn't pass the proof reading test and was surprised to pass the writing test instead. However my excuse for not passing proof reading was that I had just got a new laptop and was finding my way around Windows 8 (which I still don't like) along with the new Microsoft Word and the new laptop... I wouldn't mind another go.

I think you have to be proactive and contact the office sometimes so that you don't get forgotten.

Invoicing and payments have not been a problem.

Have you done any writing work yet? I've not heard of a star rating for Textbroker, is this something new?

Hope you manage to get some work.

It's no wonder I was confused - I work for Purecontent, not Textbroker, sorry!!!

Re: Textbroker

Beverley do you get paid to your bank - is there a charge? Or is paypal better? Have you done any proofreading on there?

Darcey just applied for Purecontent too. Thanks!

Re: Textbroker

Interested to know if there is actually any work with the proofreading - I tried and failed the test a while back and kind of forgotten about it since!

Re: Textbroker

It's still so quiet :-\ I'm wondering what I can do to be a freelance writer just off of my own back. How would I go about that? Is the work we do for textbroker like a freelance copywriter? If not, what is the difference? Could I advertise myself as a freelance copywriter or is that different?

Hi Sandra

content writing work is available on sites like PPH, fiverr, FiveSquid etc.

It may not pay much at the start but you can soon rack up the money and offer bigger and better work for people to buy

Re: Textbroker

I've yet to finish my application to Textbroker but I've been a writer at The Content Authority for a couple of years. It's a US site so mostly needs US style articles but they're usually simple to write. Like most content farms the pay is lowish (though from what I've seen I think it compares to Textbroker- it pays 1 cent per word for the mid level writers) but it's handy to just pick up an article when you have fifteen minutes spare and no other work ;D.

There's also ConstantContent - it pays better (you set your own prices) but you have to write articles and hope they sell. They have very high standards for their writers. I've not done much there but I've heard good things...

Re: Textbroker

Does anyone know how long it takes to get signed up for textbroker? I sent my writer's test submission in when I signed up in October, but I still haven't heard anything back. I did get a message saying it would take a few weeks but it's now coming up for 3 months!

Re: Textbroker

I dip in and out of sites like Textbroker etc. The pay is low but it adds up and is useful when I'm not getting much work from other sources. For example, I've just grabbed a couple of articles to write and have allocated an hour tomorrow morning to do them. Combined, the two articles will pay me a decent rate for an hours work at home.

Re: Textbroker

Congratulations!
We have rated your writing sample and activated your account - you can now start to write.

I don't remember writing a sample it's been that long! lol!

I presume I just go in now and edit my profile? Can anyone advise please?

Many thanks

Re: Textbroker

I recently had mine approved, just logged in and updated my profile but not much point as there is no work on whatsoever! At least none showing up for me anyway ...

Re: Textbroker

I was hoping to apply for this soon so it's disappointing to hear that there doesn't seem to be any work... and that they're slow to get back to you when you apply! I wonder if there are any similar sites with more work available?

I've still found Textbroker is the best of the bunch when it comes to these sites. The main thing is to really take time on your first article which they evaluate. If you don't get a 4 star rating then there is less work and it doesn't pay very well. Since I registered and got approved I'm averaging an one article a day of varying length and topic. I often need to research around the topic, but I'm being careful which ones I choose, as some articles are harder to write than others. Textbroker evaluates every article you do, and some topics are easier to write good articles for, otherwise you'll see your star rating drop.

You get feedback on every article you do, so use this to get a feel for what they are looking for. It is sometimes frustrating waiting for them to evaluate your work or for you to get your article accepted, but it usually only takes a few days.
