Hi everyone,

FluidStack is a cloud platform that serves websites from a network of consumer devices (instead of large data centres). We save websites money, and put unused hardware to good use.

We are looking for beta users to run FluidStack nodes. This means installing the software and leaving it running in the background. The software will detect when your device isn’t being used, and then it will use a small amount of your bandwidth and CPU to test our network and serve web content.

The requirements are a good internet upload speed and a Windows desktop computer. We pay between $5-$50 per month (more for better internet speeds) to have the node running. If accepted, we guarantee a flat monthly payment amount.

You can sign up for a spot here: https://provider.fluidstack.io. Just register for an account and fill out the information form, and we will get back to you by next Friday. Please make sure to sign up with your PayPal email!

Please do PM me if you have any questions or feedback!

So there’s no data collection going on at all here then?

Nope, our business model is cloud services, not data collection. We collect a bit of data about your internet speeds and hardware to help run the service though!

I think this could be quite a hard push on a site like this which tends to focus on high paying online work as the payment is so incredibly low for use of your computer once you factor in the leccy cost etc but hopefully I will be proven wrong!

Main target is definitely for computers that are online anyway and aren't being used. It doesn't add to the electricity cost much at all, it's pretty much the same as watching a YouTube video!

High paying online work is always great, but every bit helps right? :)

Do you have any benchmarks for expected payment for usage? i.e. Speedtest result of X is likely to result in a payment of Y for a runtime of Z number of hours.

@FluidStack
$5 - $50 a month? Sounds interesting.
Your FAQs say that your looking for people with 10mb minimum upload speeds.
So are you offering $5 a month for 10mb upload speed?

A rough benchmark is simply $5 for each 100Mbps. So if you had a 200Mbps connection, you would earn $10 a month. We don't have a set runtime criteria, but look for desktops which are on for the majority of the week.

Yes, but your changes of acceptance depends on region! So in super popular regions (for example London and New York), we don't actually accept people with lower uploads (because there are lots of people with higher ones).

As above, the rates are fixed globally. In the UK, outside of London, we are still accepting people with 10Mbps speeds!

I have 1gbps connection, do you require to allocate hard disk space as well, or just cpu usage and bandwidth?

Yup, the software will use a bit of hard drive space as well, but it won't use more than a GB of hard drive space.
