We've all had them, toxic people at work or just rubbish work cultures, what have been yours?

Paperboy - Job started off well enough but the mid 90s-late 90s fad of putting in 5 bloody leaflets into every newspaper didn't half weigh that bag down! - It was a real skill learning how to balance on a bike with that

Waiter - Spent 2 years working as a waiter in a Posthouse forte. Was really the lowest of the low at 16-18 working there. Hated it at times, crazy long hours and all for a measly £2.90 an hour, used to get talked to like shit from from the customers and staff.

Worked for 2 law firms - One involved LOTS of trips to London from Norwich all the time, this was before the days of TomToms and the like so driving around London with a printout of instructions from MultiMap which trying to navigate the streets with a nightmare itself. The second one sacked me because I wouldn't go and help them do work in Liverpool at weekends for 'days in lieu'

Worked for the NHS - The culture, uggh. It was just awful, everything was always the blame game the entire time. I was bought in to help manage their service desk and I spent more time dealing with managers above me than staff below me and trying to help a VERY fragmented department..

My last job was pretty sucky. I won't go into too many details as I ended up opening a tribunal case that was settled.

But I was bullied, given an unpleasant working environment, asked to work long hours and my commission was held from me.....all for a wage that was barely above minimum wage.

I quit last February with nothing else to go to. Within 6 weeks I had a new job that paid more than double and is something I enjoy.

Gosh I've had loads of jobs thinking about it!

Worst without doubt was a summer holiday job as a chambermaid in a local hotel clearing up after disgustingly messy tourists. Rubbish money, horrible colleagues and I lasted a fortnight.

Did a lot of summer holiday from Uni temping jobs through various agencies most of which were OK, except for two - one at a major bank HQ working in a noisy basement storage area rooting through mortgage files for details (very boring, hot, stuffy) and one working as admin for a social work department. Incredibly PC, they were quite disappointed to find out I wasn't an ethnic minority, disabled, single parent or a lesbian and there was so much inefficiency and waste it was frustrating.

Best temp job on the flip side was for a hush-hush oil/gas company with just two other members of staff who were forever jetting off to the Gulf. My job was to answer the phones which rang about 3 times a day, open the mail and for the rest of the time I was told to "read a book or surf the net".

I worked for a home collected credit company, issuing credit & collecting repayments. Horrid, horrid job.
