This basically boils down to I don't know how to twitter lol

On social media I'm useless at updating statuses/tweeting/pinning etc because I feel damn awkward doing it - like I'm forcing it because I feel I should update...

I can socialise and talk for England in the real world - okay I'm a bit less chatty when it comes to business but no where near how socially awkward I feel online.

Anyone have any tips?

My tip is to get over it.

I get so much traffic from social media. If people don't like the updates, they can mute them or stop following on Facebook but still like the page.

I only automate 4 tweets a day from FATH Twitter, and I have almost 1,200 followers. You could start with 2 a day linking to products/services and remember to be chatty too. Are there any similar companies that you can copy?

Have you heard of Buffer? www.bufferapp.com. The free one lets you schedule 10 tweets in advance, and I love it so much that I actually pay around £6 a month and have 10 accounts attached to it.

I was in your shoes 6 months ago

Literally no idea how to connect with others.

A big game changer was using TweetDeck - It allows you a monitor things a LOT better and also connect with others

I was taken aback by this for a moment before realising it's true - I feel like I'm bugging people when I update but you're right if they leave then ah well they probably weren't going to buy anyway!

Will look into buffferapp and tweetdeck - I don't mind updating it myself for now as I'm home a lot but will be going away soon so will need to automate then :)

Oh gosh I really hope I didn't offend you. But just take a moment to look at a lot of the mummy bloggers, they're almost cramming new posts down your throat - but that's because their followers want to see new posts, etc. I've muted a couple of people who I like but can't stand the constant updates and I don't follow anyone on Facebook after I like them - I prefer my timeline to be friend's updates.

Thanks so much for this little gem alditoharrods! I am such a numpty where social media is concerned. I've totally avoided it up until recently, but have started liking the odd page here and there and now have a barrage of stuff coming through every day. I had no idea you could like but not follow. Hahaha - I bet you're all laughing at my ignorance! But really - thanks!

Kelly - there is no way I will "unfollow" you! Please keep the updates coming! :D

But Jon...that's all they are. Mummies. They can't possibly be anything else or do anything else.

Yea...I'm not a fan of people who are defined by their parenthood. But I don't have kids so I obviously don't understand.

I always assumed that other Mums gush and swoo at all that sort of thing. I see a post on netmums this morning about 'the mummy wars'. Women can't find any of this stuff empowering surly. It's gone from don't judge me as a woman to do judge me as a Mum..

I wasn't offended don't worry Emma :)

The mummy thing... Some women do get very gushy - I do love my little one and you do have a sense of overwhelming pride everytime they do something new, and it is the most amazing thing to watch them grow and progress. I also get that not everyone wants to hear it 24/7 I mean I know a few that I blocked the feed of on Facebook because it was doing my head in even though I'm a mummy myself!
