'Stop Procrastinating & Just Do It'

I am the world's worst procrastinator and I really need to buckle down...hopefully this will give me the kick up the arse I need :D

There's a whole host of things I want to do in the house and my aim is to be 'spending neutral'....I want to earn enough to do the things without it coming out of my wage or my savings.

My main source of additional income is 63336 but I have a ton of stuff to list on eBay....looking around my lounge I can see £100 worth of things I don't want and have been meaning to sell for ages but there are 3 main problems:

1) I hate eBay
2) I hate eBay
3) I hate eBay

You get the picture :)

Facebook selling groups are a no-no...people near me want something for nothing and for you to deliver it to them so that is out.

So, I'm going to bite the bullet and do some listing this weekend.

Honestly.

My aim is to get £600 by the end of April at the very latest. This will then cover a new carpet & paint for the hallway. It should be achievable - I'm up to £260 on 63336 for this month with 10 days still to go but I tend to burnout - I can only work for a couple of hours in the evening on it and some nights can't do any.

Ideally I'd like to do £400 by the end of March but don't think I have the time. We shall see.

So, to summarise (as I have gone on and on and on and on)...we currently stand at...

£260 / £600

And for those of us that has no idea what Procrastinating is:

Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute".

Hands up who had no idea ! Me for one.

£600 by the end of April should be easily achievable through earning money online

£300 a month alone from 63336 and you will be on course to smash through that carpet target

Yeah I know what you mean about eBay

I've made myself knuckle down and list a decent amount of stuff on there so far this year, and to be fair it has brought in a reasonable income. But I do bristle at the extortionate final value fees they charge these days and how much they eat into your sales.

On the plus side I have got a lot of satisfaction from decluttering - perhaps you could focus on this aspect as well as seeing the £££ come in? And keep smiling sweetly despite the inane questions from buyers, the endless wrapping of awkwardly-shaped items and your own inability to take a decent photo without flash glare or fingers in the way!

I found I was OK with eBay once I got those first couple of items listed - and I've been able to keep up a steady routine since by keeping it manageable and well-organised. Hopefully you'll find the same once you've jumped that first hurdle.

Don't lose heart. And just think - if you get rid of some stuff, there'll be less to lug around when you get your new carpet fitted ;D

Well, I got a grand total of 0 items listed on eBay!

In my defence, I have started painting the hall because there's no point having a new carpet before painting, right? And it has taken a lot longer than I thought. I'm also doing the kitchen as we had that re-plastered and - as I am pretty house proud - it is driving me mad with half finished rooms.

Almost a month later, I have listed 18 items listed on eBay and sold 6 already for the grand total of £68.50.

It's a start! (And I still hate it ;D )

eBay is so tedious, and buyers open cases for anything. But you've made £68.50 which is a great start!

I've been on ebay since about 1999 I think and it was soooooo much better then. I used to get money through the post (because Paypal wasn't around then), you posted your item, job done. I wish it was still like that.

On the upside, £110 in sales so far with some auctions due to end on Sunday.

Debating doing a car boot sale on Sunday, weather dependent. Trouble is, most of the stuff to sell is my daughter's and she's a canny girl...she'll be wanting the money for her stuff!
