I already started my quest and by following some advice I read about, I managed to get off to a running start. I read a few weeks ago about the chances of being a poll clerk with the elections that just took place - as it is good money, and also signed up to be on a TV viewing focus group.
Luckily I managed to get accepted into both of these and on the same day completed my work for them both.
Poll clerk: £80
TV viewing focus group: £40
Not bad for an evenings work!
So I need to wade through the rest of the forum for other ideas while doing other suggestions I'm drowning in here (and loving them all). It just shows you the cash you can make if you take the opportunity and keep your eyes open.
