That's good news about the computer @Jon, think I'll try for the Crowdsourcing AND WSE at Appen first if the pay is similar, and see how I get on with my applications.

Am I right in thinking that IF I were accepted (trying to be positive but not feeling it, ha ha) I could also apply for WSE at Leapforce if I wanted as it is just the Social Media work that you can't do at Appen AND Leapforce? Thanks

Unsure on this one

I think with WSE work you can't work for leapforce and lionbridge but can with Appen but I'm not sure about the social media work as I've never done it

Looks like I'd already applied to Appen for the WSE and have not heard anything yet, so may just give Leapforce a go and see how it goes.

Hiya - hope everyone had a good weekend

I applied for the above post with A poem a few days ago and have just received an email to join in on a project on Friday to see if I meet the requirements?

Can anyone shed a little light on what this will entail exactly? Feel like I need to be prepared as to not fall at the first hurdle so to speak...

It will be under a NDA so it can't be talked about but the fact you can navigate the internet and post on the forum probably puts you in good stead compared to 90% of the other people that apply!

Anyone here still doing the ongoing 1 hour a day social media project that I know some of you were?

I am going abroad for 2 months but would love to pick it up when I get back, wondering if anyone had any experience doing that?

I know they don't like people doing the work abroad so I'm not even going to attempt it for fear of getting struck off...

We are contacting you because Appen is currently looking for native speakers. As you are listed in our database as a speaker of UK English, we think you might be ideal for this project.

About the task
In this project, you will be recording 14 calls, each 4 minutes in duration, in natural English by using mobile or landline phone. The recording session will take approximately 2 hours. You must complete all calls in one sitting, on the same day.

Once you have successfully completed the recording and we have checked the quality of the calls, you will receive a payment of GBP £36.00 through AppenOnline or your nominated payment method.

Requirements
· You must be a native speaker of English

· You must have grown up or lived for more than 10 years in the United Kingdom

· You must have an internet-enabled computer

· You must have access to a mobile and landline phone

Thanks @Jon , I'd definitely be interested in this task but cannot find it on the website and have not had an email about it (yet). I can only see the Crowdsourcing, Social Media and Web Search Evaluator tasks when I log in.
This is on both the appen website and talent appen website.

With regards to the Voice Data Collection project for children under 8 years old task that I posted about recently, I have just had an email about it. The task is to record 500 words. It will take between 1-2 hours and does not have to be done in one session. The pay is £40 for this. You can apply for it here:

i had an email earlier for anyone under 8 to do some tasks

Just checked my dashboard and the WSE job I applied for now shows as 'submitted, not selected', so looks like I failed

Incidentally @Jon I had to answer some basic questions first - INCLUDING is my pc under 3 years old, so had to say that it wasn't. I wish they would tell me why I didn't get selected.
Oh well, will try Leapforce now.

Well done Falconers! I have been doing this for the past year and it is a great gig.

One of you probably took my place as I've had to go abroad for work for a couple of months but I will re apply when I return.
