Hi folks, I've thought maybe I could try the user testing route but most seem to require a candidate to pass some sort of assessment before joining. Does anyone know if there are any that you can join without passing a test? Long story short, while I don't consider myself to be Einstein I don't think I'm a total dingbat either but I obviously didn't zoom in intelligently enough in one practice test I took. The company said I could re-take the test but I have to wait for them to set it up for me. The reason I'm asking if anyone knows if there are any user testing sites which don't require a test to be past isn't entirely down to me being craven - I thought that if I could get some experience on a site that doesn't require a test then I could gain some experience that might stand me in better stead should I attempt the tests in some of the sites that do require a qualification assessment. I would imagine that a company that doesn't require a test to be taken would pay less well than those which do. I'm still working (not in the sense of gainful employment) on composing a profile for myself to tout my audio-typing wares on fiverr and such like boards so need some streams of income so that at least something is going into my bank account. I might have a look at matched betting but my understanding is that it's like writing a blog - you aren't going to earn a mint straightaway.

I think I have answered my own question and it's a big fat 'No'. There is a company which offers training modules -Utest I think but I'm going from memory so don't quote me. I might have a look at taking training modules. I got a typing job out of the blue without advertising a couple of days ago (it was from someone who knew me before). I was glad to get the work but it did remind me how taxing some dictators can be - when I was working full-time as a (mainly conveyancing) legal secretary I didn't realise how lucky I was to have a boss who dictated clearly. I took it for granted.

Hi @Retiree

I don't have any experience in any of the user testing sites so I can't help there but I may be able to point you in the direction of IntelliZoom. It is not quite user testing but is easy to do and there are no right or wrong answers just your opinion on finding your way around websites or just putting lists of things, for example, banking categories, under headings.
You get paid in American dollars 21 days after you submit your task.

I usually make about £60 to £80 a month without much effort but this month I decided to concentrate on it a bit more and by the end of March I will have $205 which at todays exchange rate is £170.38 which I think is not too bad for 10 or 15 minutes work here and there.

Good luck.

An-na, thank you for your post. When I mentioned that I obviously didn't "zoom in intelligently" enough to a certain site it was of course THAT site I mentioned where I'd muffed it - I obviously did something wrong even if it's not particularly hard, it was hard for me. They have said I can re-take the test but it will take a little while for them to get it ready for me to re-take. I might sign up with u-test because they have practice modules you can take before you actually get assigned a test. I'll probably try various things. There has to be something I'll be suitable for. Like I said I got a bit of audio typing from a 'historic' client a few days ago but I'm not banking on that lady as a source of regular work. It's going back a bit but what I did before I got my last (fixed term contract) job before I took retirement was by applying for things I thought I might be suitable for - it took some effort but one application paid off.

Keep going there will be something you will be suitable for :)
As for IntelliZoom getting screened out is just part and parcel of it. I have just tried to do three studies and got screened out of two of them before I got started properly. Don't take it to heart just keep on going and use it as practice. You will get there (y)
