As the title says. I haven’t read encouraging things about WA so I’m looking for an alternative that teaches a legitimate way to build an affiliate site from the ground up. I’d prefer a site/ online resource / book that walks me through from start to finish if possible.

Thinking of using Vidahost for web hosting, but if you have any other suggestions for inexpensive hosting I’d like to hear them. Looking for something ultra cheap for now (I can always upgrade if I get lots of traffic I reckon)

I’m also thinking of perhaps doing a couple of months on Wealthy Affiliate without hosting my site with WA, work on it as much as I can for 2 months, then cancel the subscription if I can’t find any other alternative.

Thank you

You are getting too 'bogged' down in the affiliate site of creating a site

I know that is your end result but you are a LONG way from being able to bring in a meaningful income from your blog yet

focus on content creation first because some affiliate networks (adsense from memory) require you to have a certain amount of traffic before you can sign up to them

Affiliate networks take 2 seconds to sign up to and setup but unless your site is bring in an audience (and a regular one and even more so one that TRUSTS YOU ) they won't be clicking on your links

Take a read of http://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/why-trust-is-so-important-if-you-want-to-be-a-successful-blogger/

JON'S CHEAPER VERSION OF WA!!

Write UNIQUE content that makes an audience come to you

Keep posting UNIQUE content on your site to build the trust

thanks, I see

I was more looking for guidance on how to also structure the content / posts on my site and how to insert keywords in a way that isn't spammy

also my definition of unique content might not be the correct one

There is no sure fire way to do this no matter what these 'paid' services will tell you

Just write the content so it looks organic and as long as people trust you they will click on it

You could just install skimlinks and it will turn words you use into clickable links that earn you money

Look at this post by [member=920]katykicker[/member]

A great organic post that earns her money through her Amazon links.

It's really not rocket science!

I'm browsing Fiverr.com gigs to get the site done... I think it's the most sensible solution given I never built one and my time should really be spent creating content ?

what do you guys reckon? or would you recommend to do the site myself ?

If you go with VidaHost, install WordPress - which takes 1 click and pick your theme it'll be done! Will take a little more time to customise it and install the bits you want but it will save you money on paying someone to do it. I wouldn't think you'd get a fully customisable site for a fiver.

I am getting quotes of $15 or $20 on Fiverr.com for a 12-page site, fact is, I don't actually have the content for these pages yet ! I still have to get started

what do you guys advise? total newbie here

just got this offer on Fiverr.com

"With 10$ I'll set up your wordpress site, install template, install some plugins, create a logo for free, and make it mobiele friendly....[PAGES ] there's no limit. As long as you keep posting. It'll keep showing pages. It depends on how much your hosting can handle. "

sound like a great offer, or do you guys reckon it will limit me in the long run as I won't be able to customize it myself?

Technically there is no limitation, you could at any time transfer content to a new site you build and submit new site to the same domain(address). The limitations are more likely to come from your host that what you set up initially. Most hosts provide (we will build your site) or (use our easy website builder) options. Both of which would be better than using fiverr as then you have technical support as part of the package.

I personally had my first website through a builder, then as i learnt to code i built my second from scratch with just Notepad++. (0 experience previously, i'm a chef)

Additionally if you use your hosts builder or get them to make for you, you will still be able to improve with plugins(wordpress) the likes of which Jon has mentioned and have the support team guide you through it.

yes Vidahost sorry

so the hosting site will give you guidance on how to build the site yourself? is this true for all hosts ? take into account I have zero understanding of website building...

Another vote for Vidahost and TMS (is that an online version of Netflix & chill?)

check out http://thereverend.co.uk/blog/ All created via a one-click wordpress site.

Its not rocket science, its not difficult, you just need to post content. Once you have the content you can look to monitize it. If your goal is to make hundreds tomorrow from this then you will fail. If your goal is to keep making quality content then you will succeed in creating a blog that interests others and THEN you may be able to get some passive income.

Content THEN commission. Do it the other way round and you will stop making content because your commission levels are poor.

That is exactly what I said early. Forget earning money from your blog at the start, you won't do it without an audience and you won't get an audience without engaging organic content. That's despite those things on fiverr that tell you they will send you 1million bits of traffic a day or will get you to the top of google in 2 days

content content content.

If you are trying to farm out both the creation of your site AND the content then you are probably going to struggle..

Yeah. I see you type it again and again and again. I enjoy reading people's blogs when they start but you can see that people get bored that they aren't earning high levels of aff income within 3 months. You can all see my blog and I enjoy updating it and thinking of new things to post. Its not about cooking or money or coupons but things that I'm doing. There is a chance people will be interested in what I'm doing OR they might be searching on google on how to do something I've done. I've got AmAff Links in some of my posts and I have this month 10 clicks on them and no purchases. But the lack of purchases doesn't stop me from posting. I post because I want to and if anything-else happens then great.

A company like WA tells people who can't be bothered to create content that for x pounds a month they can earn loads. But really, they confirm what [member=1]Jon[/member] and everyone else says - content is the foundations that a profitable blog is built upon. Just never rely on anyone else to make the content as the impact can have HUGE implications (someone spoke on another post that they had their Amazon aff account cancelled after using WA).

Content Content Content.

Do or do not, there is no try.

p.s. people may say that TMS is other people generating content for Jon, but I bet he makes more from his TMS blog posts/cross blog posts/toolkits/etc than he does from his google advertising to the membership on here.

I actually don't have Google Adsense running on TMS

The ONLY Affiliate systems I use are

Skimlinks, Affiliate Window and my own personal links so ones for Leapforce or PA etc..

People get TOO bogged down in affiliate stuff but they just don't realise that without the content sat around it and a high trust level in your site people are never going to click on a damn thing let alone click and then buy

If you're simply looking for a blogging platform I would recommend Pure Leverage. The fully hosted blog comes as part of the package with the auto-responder and lead capture system, and numerous other tools such as video emailing software. You can find a ink to my PL blog through my website. If you set up a PL reseller account you can make some passive income through anyone who joins PL through your blog, that's in addition to whatever else you want to promote on your blog.
