Hi everyone, new to the forum so excuse the n00b questions

What's the most inexpensive hosting package out there? I understand that cheap hosting is usually synonymous of downtime, less than excellent customer support etc... but I am just starting out and have little dosh to invest at the moment. Looking for the cheapest option, I am not too bothered by a few hours of downtime a week

It would be a fairly basic site, 4 or 5 pages with a payment option, no registration, forum nor other hefty features

Also is it still a good idea to get the domain name and the hosting from 2 different providers then transfer it? I read that some provider can hold you at ransom if they have both and you have a disagreement with them, but does this actually happen in practice?

Thank you in advance

I have heard good things about host gator, but have no experience of it myself as I get unlimited hosting as part of my £17.50 per month WA membership fees. I don't know about being held ransom - I but my domains at Namecheap and redirect them to WA.
