Hi!

Just a question but couldn't find a general chat thread for this month to post it

I have a Halifax Credit Card and it is currently showing at £0, but in February I have £175 coming out for a hotel (won't be paid until check in at the hotel)

I am on a 0% until Jan 2019 with it, if that changes anything.

What would happen if I paid a bit every month towards this on my credit card, so technically I would be in credit on the card.

Can you get in credit? Or will the payment be rejected as I don't owe anything?

I've been in credit before, but usually when money was refunded, but presumably it is allowed.

Its an interesting question..some card companies allow you to be in credit... some this would trigger alarm bells (money laundering) and some would charge you for being in credit.. and many would refund it back automatically... i would contact them explain your thinking and see what they say... maybe you would he best getting a prepaid credit card that you can pay any amount into (i think).. but certainly before doing it ask the card issuer first to avoid any issues

With online banking its really easy to set up a new bank acount. Just transfer the money into there and in Feb (or when you need to pay before you are charged interest!) pay it off in full. The interest is better in your pocket than the credit card company's!
