Hi everyone

I completed some work for Appen last week and have now been asked to recruit others for it.

I found it very easy to do - just a case of making very short calls to a frend or family member and chatting to them but being recorded whilst doing it. No script or topics to stick to other than not talking about the recording itself. This task requires 12 such calls (mine were 5 mins a time). The recording system rings both you and the other person so it doesn't cost you anything.

Best bit is it pays £45!

To participate all you need to do is fill out this expression of interest form, and you will be emailed the instructions if you qualify. I'd be grateful if you could include my recruiter ID R798 and I will then receve a small additional fee.

I just noticed it says:

• Northern - Manchester, Leads, etc
• Midlands - Birmingham and the surrounding region
• South - London

Im living in wales- do you think it would matter, do they check? just saw they say landline as well- they would know from that.

I've had this offer but was worried if Northern also included Scotland...also we have no landline. Could we do it using 2 mobiles?

They're pretty specific on wanting a mobile and a landline so I don't think so no.....but I will email them just to double check. There's a separate box on the form for Scotland so I don't think it would be included in 'Northern' unfortunately.

Edit: they've confirmed no to Scotland I'm afraid and person making the calls needs both mobile and landline (doesn't matter for receiver )

I'm having issues with this task - completed 9 of the 12 calls with no issues, then 2 of the remaining pins are invalid (receive the same 'Pin is invalid' message, after trying many times, manually typing in the pin, restarting my browser, logging out and back in etc.) and 1 of the pins just doesn't work - the automated message plays for both the caller and receiver but then it will not connect, and so just drops before we get to talk to each other.

I emailed yesterday, but no reply - I guess with it being the weekend the office is closed? Annoyingly the deadline is tomorrow and according to the FAQs you won't be paid if you completed less than 10 calls

@Knopfler has given you a good reply on the other thread, but I'd probably submit with the codes you have and then wait for a reply to your email and hopefully they'll give you additional pins. The original email I had said this project was ongoing until around mid August so although they've given you a deadline sooner, hopefully it should be extendable. Also who did you email? The guy I was dealing with replied really quickly, but as you say being the weekend maybe he's not around. Anyway happy to give you his email if you want to try him (PM me if so).

I've had a RIGHT palaver with this task tonight - it's obviously catching @Uhhhhh . I've had 3 invalid pins and one where it will not connect properly.

If anyone has a 'call blocker' type phone, remember to disable this first otherwise it may not work.

Submitted my task yesterday - shortfall due to invalid pins, so messaged them at the same time.

Got a reply today with more pins so I can complete it - apparently IT are looking into it, so may be others too perhaps @Uhhhhh. How did you get on?

Hi, one of the people on the call needs access to both a landline and a mobile, the other person can be just on mobile, so if the person you're planning on talking to has access to a landline and meets the other qualifying conditions then it would be possible, ie. they take on the position of 'caller' and you are the 'receiver'. The expression of interest form needs filling out with their info in this case.

Hi @Cclaire I completed this task on the 24th July and they sent me an email to say they would contact me again after the calls had been checked. Did you get this too? I still have not heard back from them.

Did they email you when payment was made into PayPal? It's no use checking my appen Dashboard as it states that data and voice tasks are not put on there.

Hi @Knopfler I got an email on 17th after completing it on 12th saying I'd passed quality check and they'd begun to process payment. Payment went through on 19th and just got normal email from paypal about it hitting account.

I think they work on a fortnightly pay cycle and from anothet project i did for them I understand next one ends tomorrow with payments then expected within next few days. Probably worth a chaser email to see where yours is in thr process?

This projects on going for a little longer if anyone still wants to sign up....See first post.
