Hi all

Fairly new to all this......but my wife and I are looking for some extra income.

I work full time, and wife is a stay at home mum and we live in Essex.
Ideally we want to look at earning around £200 a month extra - is this achievable?

Wondering what are best methods would be to get to this potential target (or more realistic if viewed as too high).
I am capable of doing things online whilst at work, and my job involves travelling and flexibility so can carry out focus groups (have done a few before, only a couple though).

Wife is looking for things to do during days etc whilst little one is playing, napping as they tend to do. Are online surveys etc worthwhile?

Any ideas, tips for us starting out would be greatly appreciated?

Happy to also share views on twitter for those who have - [member=1592]tonymcp86[/member]

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome!

With a lot of online earning opportunities they vary based on how much time you have to put into them and sometimes how quickly you can complete tasks (for example when a new test comes up on whatusersdo you need to do it asap before the max number of participants is filled!).

Survey wise I'm having a good time with Prolific Academic although the surveys don't come through that often they are well paid I have done 4 out of a potential 7 since 27th March and reached £5.

The Money Shed Blog has a post called the toolkit which has lots of good info for starters :) http://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/working-from-home-toolkit/

Hi, Welcome!

I'm sure that amount is achievable but someone more experienced than me will no doubt be along to give you some pointers!

I second that the Toolkit is the best place to start.

Does your wife have admin/computer skills or audio typing skills? Could she go out to work when you are home? I'm just trying to think of employers/jobs where you might be able to earn a bit more than at home.

Hello!

£200 is definitely achievable, and you'll love having that extra cash around.

If you take a look at the link in my signature, I've made £3,000 extra in 3 months. To put it into perspective, I work full time, travel takes between 2-3 hours of my day and I'm getting married next month...so LOTS going on.

It is about finding something that works for you (well your wife in this situation).

I'd suggest reading the tool kit that Jon has pointed you to, and I have two blog posts you might enjoy - my top 10 ways to make extra cash http://fromalditoharrods.com/top-10-ways-to-make-extra-money/ and how to make £1,000 http://fromalditoharrods.com/make-1000/

That's really good advice from fath its just about finding what works for you, have a go and eventually something will click but it might not be the first thing you try! Good luck!

Hi tonymcp86,

Literally just answered the same question so I've copied the same response! ;D

There are loads of different ways. I'll quickly list a few.

1. Online surveys - Consumer research is very important to companies so they pay people to complete surveys in order to learn more about consumers to imrove their product/service. Popular sites are Swagbucks, GlobalTestMarket, Ipsos

2. Affiliate marketing - If you are good at writing or have a good presence online. You can start earning money by directing people to services. Make a website or use youtube and do product reviews. If you get enough traffic and people are interested in products you advertise they will sign up to services/buy products using your links and you will get commission. Popular affiliate networks are Affiliate window or affiliate future. or you can go to a particular website you are interested in and they will most likely have an affiliate section at the bottom.

3. If you have any skills you can provide a service on Fiverr. People will buy your 'gig' for $5. Doesn't seem like much but it all adds up. if you get enough people to buy your gig.

4. Matched betting & Bonus hunting - Bookmakers offer free bets and bonuses all the time. Matched betting is a way of extracting profit from these free bets. For example if bookie A is offering a £20 free bet. You can bet on perhaps 'Don Cossack' to win a horse race in the grand national. With bookie B you bet that 'Don Cossack' will not win. You will make profit from these bets as clever calculators calculate how much you need to stake to make profit every time.

5. qmee gives you cash rewards for simply searching the web.

These are just a few of many ways to earn money online. Hope this has helped you a bit. Good luck

Some good ones in my siggy Paying Sites link. Note they aren't just survey sites. Where I have done a post on each one I have linked to it to give more info.
Just see how you get on and which ones work best for you. :)

I've got a link in my signature to my favourite websites. Not just survey sites but other paid opportunities too. I have linked to posts I've wrote on each of the companies giving details of my average earnings too. Hope it helps.

Hello

Having tried for several years to find something to make a significant, reliable online income, I discovered matched betting and I honestly think this is the best way to start. You will easily make £200 a month guaranteed if you just follow a few simple steps. Some people who do loads of offers make over £2k in a month.

The great thing is that this is significant money, yet it doesn't involve any selling, recruiting, entrepeneurship (excuse the spelling!) or initiative. I haven't discovered anything else that can make you this type of money in a month that is so easy...though if you know of anything better I'd like to know... :)

Loads of stuff can bring in £200 a month guaranteed

Just check out the toolkit on the blog and apply for things like leapforce and you will be bringing in a minimum of £600 a month from that alone
