A lot of the posts on The Money Shed go into ways to earning money that can involve maybe working for someone else or another company. What about ways that you can earn money easily online just by doing things yourself.

These days many people are looking for ways to earn money online in order to either supplement their incomes or even to be able to work from home and not have to take an outside job. While it isn’t likely you are going to make millions of pounds with an online business, there are some ways you can earn money online that are fun and easy to do.

Here is a list of several ways to earn money online:

Selling Stock Photos
With all the websites on the Internet, it has opened up a huge need for high quality stock photos. If you are a professional photographer or even someone who knows how to take a decent photo, then you could possibly make good money selling stock photos to various online companies. The three top places to try are www.shutterstock.com, http://www.flickr.com/gettyimages/ and http://www.photoboxgallery.com/

Tweeting for Sponsors
Social media is a good place to earn money online and one of the ways to do this is to charge sponsors for sharing the messages they want to send out in their adverting campaigns to your Twitter followers. You just choose a niche, select some trending keywords and set your price per tweet. One of the places to look is at www.sponsoredtweets.com.

Be a Mobile App Tester
Mobile apps are becoming a huge way for businesses to get out their advertising for their products and services and to help build their brands. If you sign up with a company to test their mobile apps, you are helping them, plus can earn money online for yourself. Sign up at places like www.utest.com.

Be a Virtual Assistant
With so many people starting online businesses many of them don’t have enough time to do some of the everyday things like dealing with clients, booking tickets, or doing other small tasks. Therefore the need for virtual assistants has risen greatly. If you are hired by the right business, you could possibly make as much as £20 an hour. Look at online ads or contact businesses directly to see if they are in the market for virtual assistants.

Designing T-Shirts
Do you like to draw? Are you good at designing graphics? Then it’s possible you could earn money online designing shirts for websites like CafePress. They allow you to sign up and upload your personal shirt designs and sell them on their website. Or try other places that do it such as http://www.zazzle.co.uk/sell or http://www.spreadshirt.co.uk/. If one of your designs goes viral, you could make some big bucks by designing and selling shirts online.

Selling products or services on eBay
Believe it or not, eBay is a good way to earn money online. If you have a business where you buy things wholesale, you can sign up for eBay’s global marketplace and sell to people all over the world. eBay takes a portion of the sales, but there are actually people who have been very successful and have made millions of pounds in sales on this popular auction site.

I have been looking at ways of earning money online for some time now. The problem isn't that there is no work out there to do from home. The worry I have is about online scams. I have spoken to several people who have warned me about the potential pitfalls. Do not pay any money up front to work for someone else, it should not be necessary. Always make sure that you have a proper contact number and address for the company you work for and have spoken to someone within the company, to satisfy yourself they are bonafide. Do your research, find out as much you can about any organization before signing up with them. Working from home can be financially rewarding, but it pays to cautious and discerning. :)

Thank you so much for this thread. I'll be looking into the links you've provided and hopefully I can double my monthly income just by doing these!

Then again, it can't be that hard to earn £66 a month online once I get going can it? :-\

Its so great to hear other peoples stories. I've just signed up to numerous survey sites but i'm fast becoming scundered... I also have signed up to that many I cant remember all the passwords. so a little bit of advice to anyone who's a complete newbie like myself.... write them down!! Does anyone know if by taking part in all these sites if it opens your computer up to bugs? McAfee is constantly stopping me in the middle of surveys and tasks to tell me about suspicious behaviour.
Im currently on maternity leave and have discovered a interest in sewing... making lots and lots of baby paraphernalia :)

Macafee is a real pain in the bum.
I had to uninstall it from my own work computer since it kept blocking me from my own websites!
I am not suggesting that you do the same, but be aware that sometimes it just spits out garage.
There is no reason why it should be giving errors during surveys (unless they are the dodgy looking "free gift" ones)

Here's a good one for any students (or anyone else too I suppose!)

You can submit your own recipe for anything and be paid £5 for it if they publish it on the website. You must include a photo but this is all you have to do, I'm not sure how many get published, but if you have some original recipes you have made up it seems like a great idea!

I posted this page a while ago and just yesterday I posted two recipes I had made recently and had pictures of and within 2 hours I had been paid £10 straight into my Paypal account! Legitimate website and I can't believe they pay £5 a recipe but they really do!
If anyone has any slightly original recipes or just anything that's not on there yet then get your camera ready and get cooking!

Hi, Josh from Student Eats!

Thanks for the mention - nice forum! :D

Yes, we really do pay £5 for every recipe that gets published! We've paid out almost £500 in the last couple of months.

Feel free to ask any questions!

I still maintain that Fiverr is a great place for both buyers and sellers. It has come in for some criticism over the past couple of years, but there are little golden nuggets on that site for people looking to either buy a service for their site or to promote something that they're good at and doesn't take too long to complete.

Never sold anything there but have spent quite a bit and been impressed every time. Not sure how some of he people actually make some money selling it for so cheap, but I'm not complaining - always good work!

I got involved with the Fiverr site quite early when it was still a fledgling freelancing business. I got my top rated seller status over two years ago and have enjoyed a steady stream of orders to my gigs since then and have earned a fair amount to date. One of the most important apsects is the time it takes to do an order (20 minutes or less) and being consistent.
