I've got an assessment next week for the EU vote count in Lambeth, south London - paid £20 if I'm successful (200 out of 250 applicants will get through so fingers crossed!) No idea on pay for the night itself, or how long we will be there, but hoping to be a part of history and make a bit of cash too!

I've worked for the council for 5 years and been a poll clerk for every election since, which is great because you don't have to take annual leave so essentially paid twice for the day ;D I'm on as a PC for the EU referendum too, but hoping next time I'll get to be a Presiding Officer ???

Nope, 7.4 hours is added to our time sheet for the day, the same as if we were at a training session or conference for the day
I think it's to try and incentivise people who are already on the payroll system to do the jobs so that they don't have to invest time in adding loads of new people!

The ones at our place to do postal vote scanning for 2 weeks prior just take the whole thing as special leave

Just got all sorted for a position as a poll clerk for the EU referendum, £140 for the day plus £25 for a 2 hour training session the week before. Going to be a long, long day - hoping as some people have said I'll get lots of time to read my book!

They're expecting a very high turn out so I wouldn't count on too much book reading time

Ha yes, probably true though suppose it might vary by area, there seems to be a lot of others quite near the one I'm at. At least if it's busy there won't be time to get bored!

Finally got my info through. Poll clerk at the same place with the same people as the last elections, then off to the Guildhall for the count ;D It'll be a long day but I'm excited to be involved in something so historic! Need to recover fast on Friday though as I have my 'proper' job on Saturday & can't afford to be tired! zzzz

I am honestly dreading it althought i've been dealing with elections all week long anyway
Having to work from 6am Thursday until 4pm on Friday is just ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I help out with the elections every year, just so you know there is another role called a Triage Assistant.
Basically its about 4 hours work (depends how quick you work) for about £120 which is not bad at all (London Borough, im not sure what other places pay). It can be pretty active though, basically once the polling stations close the poll clerks will drive to your teams location and you empty their car of a couple vote boxes and general equipment like laptops etc
Worth looking up that role, its easy money if you dont fancy staying up all night counting etc. And a bonus is the quicker you work emptying the cars the earlier you can go home with the same pay.
