I've signed up for a few of the "gig economy" sites and GPT sites. Not megabucks but better than a kick in the teeth as my late mother would have said. People are probably fed up of me mentioning having a dodgy back that's taking its own sweet time to clear up - but the last three months I've probably done more online purchasing than I would normally when it's not too onerous to pop to the shops. I've asked (mostly) for the minuscule incoming payments to be sent to a site which for the purposes of this post I will call Friendly Payment (as far as I know there is no site called Friendly Payment but you probably know what I mean). A couple of times my few quid from, say, a survey site had been used by Friendly Payment to go towards, for instance, my Tesco delivery, though I hadn't asked for it to be used thus. So I decided to link up my bank account so that any inward monies to my "Friendly Payment" account can be transferred to my bank account in question. Then I got something from "Friendly Payment" saying they needed me to link up my direct debits to them - I don't want them to make any outgoing payments on my behalf, I only want to ensure that ingoing payments go to the bank account I have nominated. Whoever thought it would be so complicated, especially when it's only small amounts of money. Anyway, I've asked them for a suggestion as to how to resolve the matter. I missed an incoming phone call on my mobile that sounded as though it came from "Fubow" in Nebraska when I played back the recorded message - not anyone or thing I recognise. Has anybody else found this sort of thing a bit of a pain?
