Hello,

I thought I'd ask on here as so many of you use the computer all day. I have been recommended to have varifocals or reading glasses and distance glasses. I don't like the thought of varifocals and already have balance issues so I thought I would just have a normal everyday pair for driving and then a second pair for computer use/reading. I am using the computer so much now that I really do need to think about a blue lens add on (I have anti-glare already). What kind of blue lenses do you all have? I am looking at glasses direct as I like the frames and they do good offers.

Do I need to pay loads for the blue lenses or will the budget one do? I have noticed blurred vision when I am on the computer too much.

Also if anybody has a referral for Glasses Direct, I am happy to use it.
Thanks!

Hi @sianib,

You do not have to have the blue coating on your computer glasses or any other glasses for that matter. There is no evidence that it is beneficial at all. Some people like it and some don't. It certainly is a money spinner for the already overprice optical market.

I have distance glasses for driving and computer glasses, intermediate distance, for laptop work and also a pair of reading glasses for good old fashioned reading. I don't use them as the computer glasses do fine for that. All my glasses have standard anti scratch and anti glare coatings on them.

Have a look at Martin Lewis website as sometimes there are codes for free delivery or extra discount from Glasses Direct.

Also have a look at https://www.selectspecs.com/
I have used them a lot. My £6.00 computer glasses are brilliant and good quality. I have had them for ages now.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

An-na

Don't know about blue lenses.

Glasses Direct are on TopCashback, if that helps.

I don't bother with blue lenses. There's a filter built into my laptop, but I've never bothered with that either.
I didn't get on very well with varifocals and they were pretty useless for computer work. I could see a few inches in the middle of the screen clearly and had to keep moving my head to see the rest. I gave up very quickly and now use a pair of glasses just for the computer.
I found varifocals made me feel really short - I'm only 5ft 2 anyway and I felt about 4 foot and very dizzy  I was told I would get used to them, but after 3 weeks of solid use, I gave up!
