I have been self employed since 2001 as a childminder. Last summer I found work had gone quiet and have been looking at ways to up my income inbetween childminding. My eldest also left home for uni last September and we are trying our best to support him as much as we can.

I found out about the online surveys through google and started some at the end of January, but I didnt put much effort into them.

I posted on a mums site about looking at ways off working at home and among the offers of joining various book/make up/toiletries sales I had a message off Jon to have a look on here . Thanks Jon :)

I have read a lot of posts on here of suggestions Thanks all :) and I registered on here in May.

I would like to thank (again) everyone for their help and support on here

At the moment I am spending all my spare time filling in surveys and have also just signed up to Roamler(I want an iphone now but stuck in a contract for another year)

Since May I have learnt that some survey sites pay out much more than others but also some have a higher payout level than others.

I have not set myself any targets at the moment as I do not want to lose heart if I dont make any set targets but I am going to list my payments/payment requests as I request them,

Swagbucks -£15
Pinecone -£3
My Survey -£5
Opinion Outpost -£10
Valued Opinions -£10 Sainsburys voucher
Inbox pounds -£20 ( I got really excited when I hit the £20 today )

I have also got some other survey sites on the go which are building up but they have a higher cash out amount.

I have decided to set myself a target now to earn £250 befor Christmas :D

sounds good and wish you well. It's just finding the best sites for you & the ones that pay best.

I used Opinion Outpost last year and had some small successes but found I was getting KBd from a lot of surveys then stopped receiving invites from them often. Finding Global Test Market to be a bit better on that front

I agree -I signed up to so many in the begining and I am slowly finding out who sends out the emails, who do not and who I do not like.

I am with Global Test Market, at 825 points at the moment and need to get to 1087 points to cash out £30 with paypal ( not long to go now :) )

I think this is how must people begin, I know I certainly did. You get it in your head that the more survey sites you sign up to the more money you will make. Sadly it doesn't work like that and you seen realise that it is best to stick to the ones that work well for you

I agree. I signed up for lots at first and now have gradually just got it down to just a few good ones that are the best for me earning wise.

I signed up to around 35  of them, but now I am down to just a handful that do not take long to build up. I am still doing the ones that email once or twice a month as they pay around £1 -£1.50 per survey and they can cash out between £4-£8 , so I am happy with that.

I still cant get my head around Gifthulk, Clixsense and Neubox , even after reading bits on here and searching for hints on Google. So I do not think at the moment they are for me.

I am still searching for other work, Im not bothered about low pay rates as I have been self employed for nearly 13 years and some months have been better than others , so used to having the uncertainity (thank goodness husband has a regular salary)

I did do an online test with The Smart Crowd but had problems with the links (5 would not download) so only got 11% hahahaha
and on the comprehension test I got 90% (which I was well pleased with as English was never my strong subject in school lol) but I did not get assigned any work ;)

If I had not joined this site, I do not think I would have found the courage to have even tried -thank you all :D

Same here - being able to ask questions and read about the experiences of other Shedders is a real confidence booster isn't it
