Is anyone else struggling to make money online. I'm finding it a lot harder now than it's ever been before especially if you haven't got a specific skill to offer. I've lost all my work online at the minute, was working on Lionbridge social media and then lost the regular income off the Appen surveys. I'm making a bit on Prolific and a few other survey sites but it's not enough. Can anyone please recommend anything? I've been off work for over a year due to an accident and I'm really struggling financially. Thank you.

A year ago, I'd have recommended having a go on one of the freelance sites - People Per Hour, Fiverr, Upwork - offering something general like "research skills" (if you can use Google, you can do that - you'd be surprised how many businesses just don't have the time!). However, they're rapidly becoming a race to the bottom. Having said that, it's well worth looking through the Offers on PPH and the Gigs on Fiverr (skills that freelancers are offering), thinking "I could do that" and putting up your own at a competitive price - as a general rule, I'd say offer your skills at around 50p to £1 less per hour than the next lowest IN THE UK, but make sure you stay above minimum wage. For Fiverr, profiles that are fully completed with an introduction video tend to fare best.

There's also Defined Crowd (Neevo), but it's poorly paid and it can take a LONG time to get paid after a job has closed. It's one to add to a portfolio rather than rely on for an income.

Are you claiming all the benefits you're entitled to?

Hi
Thank you for the advice. Yes I am claiming everything I can it's still a struggle though so could do with finding a decent top-up. I will have a look at your suggestions.

I would say yes, I still make decent money from Crisp but it's more like a job than a side hustle, you need time and flexibility to make it work. Appen has definitely declined and I have not made anything from them for quite a while now. Hopefully, things will improve and there will be more opportunities in the future.

Definitely struggling too. I made it work while my kids were little but now work part time in a shop, if you can get out at all then I think NMW, going up to £10.42 in April (I think), is going to offer more than online work. There are also phone jobs available too, I see a few quite regularly as I'm signed up to the Indeed jobs newsletter. Plus you get holiday pay, which is amazing for me personally having been without it for so long. I'm still dabbling online with Populous and Prolific but not much else now. I used to do a lot for Appen but get nothing from them now. I'm also learning to trade...but it has taken me many years and many hours of studying to get there so not a quick fix.
