Good morning, afternoon, evening or night to you all my fellow shedders...

I've decided it is time to start a diary of my quest to earn 1000 ruddy quid through online earning, with the goal being to use it to start my new business venture...

Which is essentially around startups/freelancers implementing sales structures, strategies and techniques to make the most of their talents and really make a go of their business in order to help them get to a point where they comfortably employ others in a strong SME business! So all the way from marketing, pitching/presenting, sales process, Account Management etc. with my definitive focus in this area being defined over time. I have the framework of how the website and the tactics etc. will work, just need to raise funds to make the content more compelling and to be honest the time spent saving is time to immerse myself into several networks.

So what do I have so far? Well I am starting at a point of £0.00p

What do I do?

- Onepoll - current balance £30 (payout at £40)
- Onepoll+ - current balance £2 (payout at £8)

What I won't be doing

- Neobux - already quit, huge waste of time
- Same for most Paid to Click
- probably are some others but not springing to mind.
- Geolotto - stopped being free
- Paid to post websites - every one I have joined has been more trouble than its worth, however actually as I write willing to be convinced haha!

Looking forward to anyone being able to provide ideas and guidance. I used to run a blog called The Get Rich Quick Experiment so I have tried quite a few things but as the name suggests, it was mainly to poke a bit of fun at the awful ideas and rarely focussed on sustainable approaches.

I would agree the fixing the web is definitely my sort of thing, I've done it for Business Link so should be capable of doing uTest and Whatusersdo. I'll sign up and see how I get on thanks.

I didn't just read the article mega fast I read it from the 'what have you posted today thread and had the two aforementioned sites saved to a favourites folder to sign up to.

In terms of the apps I need a better phone, currently using a Samsung Galaxy Y and it is the most terrible phone I've ever had. May have to invest in a better one but of course thats more dosh! I do have an iPad so any iPad apps I can use from home would be excellent but the phone is so bad it wouldn't be feasible to use it.

What about applying for LeapForce. Easy £600+ a month right there

Looks like I have a bit of a shortlist to check out then - Leapforce website is a bit vague as to what you do so I'll search the forum amongst other places. So I have

- Leapforce
- eDigital Research
- Whatusersdo
- uTest

I've already started researching/signing up 8)

Leapforce is web search evaluator work, it pays above minimum wage

We have a blog post about it here

Good luck, I do all of the above (I just passed sandbox in uTest so haven't made any money from there). Leapforce is my biggest earner but I am quite fond of WUD. Edigital is ace, when they have a wave of surveys.

Going to see how I get on with uTest myself. :)

In a bizarre set of twists I'm undertaking something of a temporary pivot as my groundwork has landed me 1 and potentially a 2nd gig.

1) A friend who is a freelance CAD and packaging designer needs an online portfolio. I'll make him the basis and the easy to update platform and he'll provide the content and give me a case study.

2) An old work colleague is potentially helping his friend to setup a website for his letting agency. I'd be using a template, editing the html etc. and hooking in wordpress so that they could quickly add content when they want.

So... online money making has taken a bit of a back burner as this stuff is getting in front of real businesses who will start needing my advice on websites and selling... happy days.

Not a lot further with much of the above as I've been unwell (always seem to be at the moment) but I have made some progress

- negotiations continued on the letting agents website - will likely be a little easier than anticipated so thats good :D
- Onepoll - been doing a few surveys a day and I am over £30 now (cannot remember how much).
- Onepoll+ - just the one survey not been very good with this
- Not actually started anything new...
- did collect up scratch card wins and betting wins from the last few months. A little bragging but also a little ashamed that I now have £70 towards my fund haha...

Managed to withdraw £7.95 from Geolotto and doubt I'll be going back. Have also made a conscious effort to do a Onepoll+ survey every time I get an invite and so am close to the £8 payouts and at about £33 on Onepoll following a resolution to try and do 20p a day there.

The letting agents deal is getting close and the money from that could take a considerable chunk out of my target but so far...

£70 - various betting and scratch card wins I found
£7.95 - Geolotto

£77.95 total = 0.8% approx. (of £1,000 business startup fund)

Update started: £77.95 total = 0.8% approx. (of £1,000 business startup fund)

Since this time I have been very busy working on the end-product of this money raising venture, more so than raising the money I had been planning to use to create said project. However:

Onepoll - close to payout
Onepoll+ - as above
Whatusersdo - still yet to try it out

However I have made some real progress in that the letting agents are now signed up to build the website so will apparently be kicking off the build next week, which will help build funds, potentially build up a new partnership but most importantly it will help raise my profile for other ventures.

You could easily make the £1000 through the matched betting offers bookies use to entice new customers :)

I made some good money through betting before using arbitrage but thats for another day...

The website development is well underway and so hopefully payday for this is approaching. I've also got the very bones of my sales startup up on twitter @dandansalesman so making significant strides but not doing a lot of surveys etc. since I find myself travelling a lot and writing notes in a note pad and so having to type up loads of content now... but alas I am getting there

If I end up with a lot of spare time soon... watch this space... then I think matched betting with a small pot might be getting tried.

Whilst it is far from launch and so could be expected, I would tell others that they need to make it clear on every page what they are doing. I'll be getting back to work then as I do appreciate it is a million miles from done and paper doesn't count as content :S

Hello [member=1]Jon@TheMoneyShed[/member] you've given me a problem and so I am glad its come up early.

You've read this thread and so had an indication that the website is going to be around sales advice for startups. Whilst, to a one, everyone else I've shown the website cold (i.e. no knowledge of what I am doing, not even from an explanation like this thread) says something along the lines of oh yeah you're going to be offering sales advice once you launch. Its not to say there isn't plenty of feedback, it just isn't this feedback.

Do you simply mean you cannot see the product or service on offer? If thats the case then you are correct and I don't really have a problem as you guys here and a few advisors are all that are seeing it for probably months from now. If you simply don't understand that this is going to offer selling advice in any way shape or form, then I have a much bigger problem so I'd like to understand which is which before I expend energy into doing the wrong thing. Keep going and don't share again until the content is in, or completely re-do the page, your thoughts could decide!

If you think about it, it's not worth building the rest of the content into the website if this page doesn't make sense. But having the actual website rather than 1 page on its own could solve the problem so focus is key.

other negatives stated by multiple people that you didn't mention but need solving:

- why is it only a mailing list right now (fair enough it's not the website yet)
- disagreement on the main questions startups have (loving that feedback thats how I know what to write about)
- why don't I state when I'm launching (as I haven't decided this is definitely fair enough and so a countdown would be a good idea)

single person but still potential problems

- the title is too prominent (I thought that as otherwise I like the design, I'm testing)
- as above - no idea what the site is about (the purpose of this response and highlighting other weaknesses haha)

Appreciate your thoughts and feedback (particularly Jon who I'm sure is probably bored of me by now haha).

Not that anyone here asked... but been tearing the site apart (behind the scenes) following my own advice a bit more on keeping things simple and to the point except for your lessons and learning piece. Will soon be in a lot better shape thanks to some feedback after going out and hunting it down.

As for the letting agents website - the import of demo data function was broken and so the developer is fixing this, once done we have the content ready to start rolling in, but the problem with the import means the template doesn't actually work so having to wait on that. Frustrating but all part of the game I suppose.

Be back on the money trail before too long...
