Hi all,

Been lurking here for a few weeks now trying to find the courage to take the plunge with matched betting. I'm starting with £50 and signed up for the trial with PA on Thursday,

I was really nervous about placing my first bets with Coral and Betfair but all OK and I'm up about £11 after completing offer 1. :) (Think I could have made a bit more from the £20 free bets by choosing better odds, but happy with that for an hour's work to start!)

Just wanted to say thanks to Jon and everyone else for all the great info on here, hopefully this is the start of something!

I'm in profit with Coral, do I withdraw these funds now, or leave them there for future offers when I upgrade PA membership?

Withdraw the coral money once you are done with the offer :)

FANTASTIC to see you posting on here btw!

Thanks Jon!

Have made my withdrawal request and on to offer 2 this afternoon. :)

Update - the back bet came in at Betfred, just waiting for the free bet to be credited now.

Hi again all!

I can't believe what I have been missing out on - been taking it slowly with slightly lower odds on free bets to cover exchange liability but good progress so far.

Originally I invested £65 to the two offers above including £50 to Betfair to get a small bank going there.

Also upgraded my PA membership to learn and earn more!

So I've invested £93 so far for monthly membership and 3 offers, waiting for withdrawals of £32 from winning back bets and a £20 free bet to be credited. My Exchange balance is £69, so think I've made a small but good start this weekend ;)

2 Questions though:
1. Does registering with each new bookie leave a record on your credit file?
2. What is the best e-wallet to move funds between exchanges? I need to sign up for Smarkets using a bank card to take advantage of the offer, but what is the easiest way to move money between exchanges?

Thanks again everyone for all the info on here!

1) no - it's a soft credit search only

2) I can't think of a direct way you can move money between exchanges, I always just withdraw back to my debit card :)

Not sure I'm posting where I should be, but I have just placed my first matched bet. I'm assuming once the bet is placed I just close everything down and sit tight? It's the Ajax v Lyon game which is tonight.
Having read as much info as poss over the past week and still failing to get my head round it, I thought I'd just do it and learn that way. SO NERVOUS!

No it's betfred as I already have a coral account so couldn't take advantage of any join up offer. So I'll wait until tomo and see what happens...

Definitely best just to get one placed and then it'll all slot in to place! Well done for taking the leap!

So Ajax won and I now have £22.50 in my betfred account, awaiting £30 free bet tomorrow. I can't do the other "trial" one on PA as it's coral and I seem to be locked out of my account! So even if I get unlocked I won't have any free bets...at this point should I just joint the PA subscription and start on other offers?

Or do I use my £30 free bets to generate more money?

Mmm, so I assume I just use my £30 free bets in the same way until its used up?

When you get your free bet with betFRED you set the calculator to SNR and do the same

PA will guide you through what to do :)

Good luck with your Betfred bet @Lizziew24 . I would suggest getting a spreadsheet to keep track of the bets and balances in all your accounts. There are some that you can download and use like Ultimatcher - it's better to do this sooner, otherwise you'll have a lot of historical data to enter.

I started my MB journey a week ago and it's quite exciting waiting for bets to be settled. I'm currently maxed out on bets at the moment so I've got to wait until my open bets are settled before I can do anything else, this is where I wished I had a bigger starting pot!

Thanks @Xorro im a bit puzzled about the spreadsheet for keeping track of things, I was just going to use a note pad!! Perhaps naive! May I ask how you are getting on in terms of profit one week in? And how much time per day are you putting in? Just trying to gauge how I need to play things!!

Hi @Lizziew24 I made about £34 in my first week from the sign up offers on Betfred and Coral. It's difficult to gauge how much time I spent as it was 30 mins here and an hour there while I worked out what the whole MB thing was all about. I'm much quicker now and I've probably spent about an hour a day this week, still learning and looking at things.

I've subscribed to a month of PA and I'm now signed up with StanJames, Smarkets and SkyBet. I would say each of these has taken 30-45 mins to get signed up, add a card, make a deposit, check my funds in the exchange, find a bet, check the figures in the PA calculator and then finally place the bets!
Once you're set up then it's much quicker when you place new bets, maybe 15 mins.

I'm waiting for bets on SJ and SB to come through at the weekend, until then I'm stuck as all my funds are tied up.

If you're happy with paper that's fine, I prefer mine electronic, things like Ultimatcher work out the odds for you and what your potential profit/loss will be and what your balance is at each bookie and bank account you set up.

I hope that helps :)

Yes that is really helpful, thank you! I must admit that once you make a start it becomes much clearer. I spent a good while reading about it all and worrying I wouldn't understand it, but I feel quite excited now and am hoping to make a good bit of money, fingers crossed!!
