[member=1619]SarahLu[/member] I just looked up that race on Sporting Life - he won at much shorter odds and I see a non-runner in the race. Whilst it's not saying it on the screenshots you posted, it looks like a Rule 4 was applied (when odds are changed due to a horse not taking place in the race). This has happened both with SJ and Betfair so everything has basically scaled down proportionally.
SarahLu said:Thanks for looking that up [member=1315]Pbrail[/member] , much appreciated. Sods law for this to happen to me on one of my first bets before I've gotten my head around it all! Is there anywhere on either the bookie or betfair sites where it will tell me that the rule 4 has applied, so I know where to check if the amount is different from expected in future?
[member=2824]SimonP[/member] Yep so at least its gone in my favour Is it possible to lose out due to this happening?
Last question - how would I record this on the spreadsheet please [member=143]auntygeek[/member]?
massively appreciate all the help, I'm really clueless with all this at the mo!
auntygeek said:your account should show the odds you got for which bet you won or lost - just amend these in the spreadsheet to calculate the right profit.

Oh..the odds seem to be the same as what they were when I put the original bet on. I can't find anywhere that says they have changed, they just appear as in the screenshots above (which is what is also entered on the spreadsheet)

Okay sorry! a wee hack is to take the winnings and divide by your stake. This will give you the amended odds. Enter stake and odds and the profit will calculate

After doing the above, its calculated that I got £25 profit, when I actually got £45 :-\ I'm now wondering if the odds really have changed?
auntygeek said:Was it a free bet? That method is for when you get the stake returned...
If the stake isn't returned (ie free bet SNR) you would need to:
Divide winnings by stake
+1
= odds
Eg if you got £45 from the bookie and it was a £10 FB the method would be
45/10 = 4.5
Add 1 ... Odds would be 5.5

It was a free bet - and that worked, thank you. I'm assuming I also need to re-enter the new Betfair odds using the same calculation? (Just tried it and it did give me the correct loss from that calculation)
auntygeek said:Yes to get the correct liability deducted you'd need to amend betfair odds
