New SMS account verification step. Takes seconds to complete, just enter your number (+44 instead of 0 at the beginning) and you receive a text. You may have to do this before you can complete your next study.

Is there any particular reason for the sudden need for SMS verification? :/

I think it might be something to do with the new referral program, and potential abuse by people signing up under themselves and completing survey twice.

Ah, of course. I was thrown off by the change but that makes total sense. :)

Won't load for me either and opening the study in another window leads to an error page too.

Looks like the researcher hasn't loaded the survey correctly. I get a Virgin Media message telling me the URL uploadtheurlofyoursurvey.com doesn't exist! ;D

On a side note, I hope Prolific do something about upgrading their server soon as the site is painfully slow yet again today.

Aye, it's up and down like a yo-yo today. Pretty frustrating.

Keep refreshing, the survey started working for me. I had that same problem initially but they seem to have fixed it now.

I wish they had never introduced a referral scheme for this, spoils it for the genuine.

I have had a lot approved, but 2 rejected for inconsistent answers. I have emailed because I specifically remember both of the surveys and both of them I actually gave a lot of thought to.

No response as of yet but we shall see :)

All good with the others though so far!

Update: received a response from one of them with a strange answer that doesn't make a lot of sense. Where do I go from here? Just let it go?

My work was rejected, what can I do?

A researcher may reject your work if they believe that some answers you gave are wrong, the study was not completed correctly or that the instructions were not followed. If you believe that your submission was rejected in error, you may decide to contact the researcher directly. You can easily do this via our messaging system. Under "Manage Studies", just click on the researcher's name to send him/her a message.

Sneak preview: We are currently developing certain mechanisms to make Prolific a fairer platform. In the future, researchers will have to go through a rejection justification process, i.e. they will need to specify (in a message to the participant) why exactly a submission needs to be rejected. Also, we'll introduce partial payments, so even if a submission is not entirely satisfactory to the researcher, he/she can still choose to pay a partial compensation.

if their reply doesn't make sense and is not justified, you can get them on chat or email them, saying you are not sure exactly why you have been rejected.

I had one rejected and the email clearly stated exactly why, and I was happy with their reasons.

I think it would be quite easy to see who is genuine and who isn't. I've signed up about 20-30 people I think and I'm very happy with the scheme. I don't do anything fake though and I'm happy to just put my link out there and if people sign up, great, if not no problem.

The SMS verification isn't a big deal really, not like they are going to ring you chasing you to complete surveys. :D

[member=519]compingmad[/member] Thanks for that.

I got an email response from one telling me it was rejected in error by her research assistant and she was in the progress of fixing that. So that one is grand.

The other one, his response made no sense so I think I will email back and ask for further clarification. :)

Very easy to register, but time will tell if there are enough studies. Made 17p very quickly for about 90 secs work, ie £6.80/HR, so not bad. Personally I've found being honest and not stressing on screenouts is the best way to do these things.
