I don't really get this BBC thing either, firstly it appears to be a speaking task, so do you do it on phone or computer? Also the insider programme, what even is that? I'd never heard of it till reading the instructions, does it mean you have to download a lot of things? It sounds like it could be good, but it also sounds very complicated, but then I only just joined Utest and the whole thing so far looks confusing

It should have been a lot simpler than it was. But now if I had to do it again it wouldn’t take long. You do have to install Insider (I don’t know what it is either). I did the voice recording on my phone and uploaded all the screenshots on my PC. I’m still getting my head around it.

There’s not many other projects to apply for. I’ve applied for a Photography one and a driving one.

The insider program is just getting beta windows builds, The BBC app is built on the yet unreleased windows 10 build and won't work on the present version (I guess BBC are thinking ahead) You sign up to windows insider and windows update takes care of the rest.
Thank you, I think I did every right, sent the voice clips, screenshots and did the survey. Will wait and see what happens next.
Okay so passed all that, the next bit is to download some BBC thing from Microsoft store, but all I get is the message "this doesn't work on this device" honestly could they have made this anymore difficult?!

Oh no.. I’m going to attempt it today. I need to go and buy a cheap microphone first.
Haven't a notion what I'm doing, the app won't download, and I have no clue what to do, right now I wish I hadn't bothered. Would have been all so much easier if it was done on the phone.
What build of Windows 10 do you have now?
You may have joined the Insider Program but not yet installed the lastest build?
It needs version 19041 I think which is the beta windows upgrade from the insider program.

I had the same error message, took me 2 days to sort with Microsoft support.
Not really sure what fixed it in the end, but if you want to try and download the lastest version of Windows manually you can from the insider program website:
If I had to guess then I'd say that this is what fixed it for me, but like I said, I tried so many things I'm not show which one actually worked.

I’m updating mine now as I couldn’t install the Beeb app. It really does seem like nothing goes right first time with it.
Thank you Wibble, I will look at it again later, have wasted pretty much the whole morning on this, and it still isn't right. It may be well paid, but so far it's been nothing but bother.
