Just so it doesn't get confused with the 2016 one :)

Would anyone like to join me this year? I'm already a little behind but I've paid off the 1st of Jan (starting with £3.65 and working my way down to a penny this year!)

https://teacherwashere.wordpress.com/2016/04/17/penny-a-daycoin-challenges/ for more info and some different versions to meet every pocket!

and the old thread http://www.themoneyshed.co.uk/index.php?topic=5146.0

So, currently my jar has £3.65 in :D

I'm doing this too! I'm doing it the traditional way but like last year I'll probably aim to get ahead of myself :) x

I'd like to give this a try. I'll have to get a stash of pennies together.

I quite often 'change out' coins from the jar so i can put the right amount in... but that might be because I really like to keep track of what's in there so i have a spreadsheet so I don't loose track!

Nothing wrong with that! Leaves less coins to carry at the end of the year too I bet!

I'm going to do the weekly challenge again. I don't tend to carry much cash so will just transfer it from my bank account to an Instant Saver. My total currently stands at £1.05!

I was surprised because norally they'll only let you put in a certain amount of bags but they were really nice about it as it wasn't my fault the machine wasn't working. (For those who are a bit lost - Some natwest branches (possibly other banks) have a coin machine like the coinstar ones you see at supermarkets except it doesn't charge and puts teh money straight in your account.)

It's such a good idea! Banks don't like counting all the cname and people want to put change into their accounts.... bet it saves a fortune in staff time (except when it breaks down ;)

First I have heard of this challenge and it does make a lot of sense, looks like I will need to buy a bigger penny jar and get started!

How's every body getting on with the penny a day challenge, i'm way behind to where I should be, plus our Sam keeps dipping in, so what I've started to do is when I get to a couple of pound I go to the local Asda and put it on a Christmas saving card. This way nobody (Samuel ) can dip in to it, and I'm still saving for Christmas. You can top your card up on the self scan tills so even if it's a load of change you can but it on. I don't know how much change it will takes before it starts screaming at you to stop but it's Worthing thinking about, I know it's not exactly penny in a jar, but i'm still saving

I've been doing the £1 a week one. Think I'm at £45-55 now? Something like that. I'll probably just do it for half the year then blow it on a holiday for us to Paris!
