Anyone heard of snip.ly before? I was on Twitter the other day and I clicked a link that took me to a Wikipedia page. However, there was also an advert by the Twitter account on the Wikipedia page which I first found a bit odd.

Here's the link I clicked: snip.ly/zrpb

I'd never seen anything like this before, where you place your own add on somebody else's page. I had a look into it and found an article about it here: https://www.plagiarismtoday.com/2015/01/26/snip-ly-putting-other-peoples-ads-on-your-site/

Anyone heard of it before?

Yes, but your own ads. So I'm presuming people use it a lot on social media, share content that other people have done that will get a lot of clicks but using the shortner puts an advert for your site or blog on there. Bit naughty really because in effect you're advertising on somebody else's site without their permission. Don't know how effective it is.
