Throat swabs aren't great!
They take practice!! You have to do it for 10 seconds so mine was 10 seconds spread over 4 attempts

some how the guy on the NHS video doesn’t gag once doing this part of the test, dunno what that’s all about!

I used to do them on my daughter regularly when she was younger. (She has CF) She got used to them in the end and didn't gag at all.
What you are going through sounds exactly like what we had back in March. The poop smelled like a badger had crawled up there and died

Some of us are eating our dinner you know!

@Jon sounds more like you might have some sort of food poisoning more than covid.

You are more than likely right as statistically with a population of 60+ million and around 5000 a day being infected chances are it’s not going to be you as it’s not as “in the community” as it was in March but it’s hard to know what to think!

Apparently, some people put the nose swab too far up and quite a few come back with blood on them.

Fun fact (if you're into that sort of thing), the coronovirus attacks the body through the ACE2 receptor which is abundant in the lungs, the small intestines and...erm...gentlemens parts. The reason people get lung problems is because it's usually the first place the virus gets to. It is possible to have coronovirus attack the intestines first which leads to food poisoning like symptoms without the lung problems.

It might mean that you will get antibodies created to attack the virus before it's able to take hold in the lungs so you'll have virtually no possibility complications from the virus and have immunity to it afterwards (probably).

It's just a theory, but some have suggested men are more likely to die from the virus because it latches onto our, well, ball and it makes it harder to get rid of:

Anyone heard any rumors on when hairdressers and barbers might reopen? I need to do another butcher job on my hair with the kitchen scissors but will hold off if there's a chance I can have it cut properly soon.

I've got 4th July in my head, but that might be wishful thinking. I was booked in for an overdue haircut the day we locked down, and it's significantly worse now...

Well my home test kit went off this morning so have to wait a few days to find out it's negative no doubt and it was just some god awful bug I caught

In regards to hairdressers, we have dentists open now so I don't get what the hold up is.

My only thing is how much money do companies / businesses want to spend on PPE / Distancing measures when by the time we get to stage two which might be by end of july / beginning of august we don't need them all so much

My hairdresser and nailtech observe impressive levels of hygiene even in normal times. I can't see that there would be much risk in them opening right now.

I'll be really interested to see what comes back on your test, Jon - you've had a lot of the same symptoms I did. What's your sense of smell like?

Generally, I think it's Ok but I mean. All I've been eating is bloody toast/ bread / carbs so everything smells like cardboard to me anyway at the moment lol

I couldn't smell anything at all for 14 days. Seriously NOTHING. My nose wasn't blocked or runny or anything. Very strange sensation. I was ill for about five days. And didn't want to eat anything at all. I'm on a fairly strong anti-emetic with preventative migraine medication anyway, so no idea if I'd have been sick as well as, er...the other end.

Could you not just have an antibody test to see if you've had it?

I'm waiting until they don't cost £79 privately. I've decided my pinch point is £50, so if anyone sees one at £49.99, let me know!

Same here, I'd like to know if our lurgy back in March was Covid, but I'm not willing to pay what is being asked at the moment either! The powers that be have said that even if you do have a positive antibody test, you still have to act the same with social distancing etc. But it a curiosity thing. I just want to know.
