I've (very) lately signed up with this company though will have to wait and see if I get anything from them. February and Fee, I think you are both right to be honest but there are times, even with doing minor tasks like surveys, I find myself wondering "Is honesty the best policy?". Obviously the surveys I've attempted or done are confidential so I'm making up a 'for instance' scenario. Supposing there was a survey about pet food and it was obvious that they were interested in folk who purchased doggy food and not those who buy moggy food and I could see which way things were going. I'd still click on "I do not have a dog" and be booted out of the survey. That's a completely fictional scenario of course - I'm not sure I agree with the old adage that "Virtue brings its own reward".

It's not necessarily down to the Neevo company, could be any one of serveral AI companies, but I have sometimes found that on YouTube videos where the YouTuber doesn't show his/her face and uses a prerecorded voice to hide his/her identity, that words are sometimes pronounced wrongly. I've heard 'agape' pronounced as 'agapay'. The verb in 'I read the book' (present tense) and 'I read the book' (past tense) are written identically and I have heard the wrong tense being used. When I used shorthand I was a pen writer (Pitman system) but I've heard from some ladies (I only knew a few who did the job) who worked in the courts using either the Stenowriter or Palantype machines that the training up of software to use voice recording wasn't all that straightforward and of course it impinged on their jobs. I don't think they have stenographers in the courts anymore in the UK. There was a TV programme some years ago based on some of Hogarth's paintings where the subtitles referred to "The Harlet's Progress" rather than "The Harlot's Progress".

Sorry if I sound like a Luddite - not that their protests helped the Luddites much. Any historians here? I'm pretty sure that I read that John Kay of flying shuttle fame died in exile without a lot of money to his name. Of course some of the industrial revolution inventors (I'm not saying all) were gifted practically but hadn't had the chance to get much book learning so didn't patent their inventions to their detriment.

I was thinking of it as an adjective as in "mouth agape" and the Cambridge Dictionary says it is two syllables as an adjective. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/agape I heard something where someone said something like "He stood there mouth agapay". But you are quite right when the word is used as a noun it has three syllables as per the Cambridge dictionary:- "
agape: a type of love that is not sexual and is not concerned with yourself; used especially in Christianity to refer to Christian love"
But I should have explained the context of the wording "mouth agape" in what I heard.

Quickest way to get blocked is to say yes or no before the recording fully ends. You have to wait until the end. Even if the last seconds are silent before making a decision

Is anyone doing a MOS job on Neevo atm? I wonder if the second box where you explain your score is optional or not - doesn't say in the instructions, but I remember from the previous MOS tasks that the comments were not necessary.

I totally forgot about this so hardly did any, but I ignored the 2nd box. If they wanted comments they would need to up the pay from a measly 3c.

Actually got invited to a job today but it’s one of those correction ones for $0.13 per task, I did 51 but I haven’t got the drive to do thousands like I did a few years ago. Too much stuttering in the audio so it takes forever, although I did notice you can skip tasks now, but I’m not sure how many times they let you do that.

I got the invite too, but not sure if I'll bother, they still haven't paid me for stuff I did months ago. That's such poor business practice - if you pay peanuts, at least pay straightaway!

13c is ridiculous for that job, some of them are maybe at least 15 seconds long, and a few I haven't been able to make out at all. I only did 18 before I got fed up.

To be fair it let me skip loads of tasks that were too long or annoying, I just did over 100 but that’s all I’m doing.

They promoted me to an agent ages ago and yet they never invite me to agent jobs, I’ve just messaged them to ask why but I’ll probably just get a generic response.

I managed 352 but have now been kicked out for "not meeting quality standards" which is pretty galling considering you cannot even decipher what half of the clips are even saying!

I got the generic response from them but one thing of note was that they said it’s important to remain active on Neevo and log in once per month.

I did the first three of the test, thought "why in hell are you doing this to yourself?" and noped out. I've got a book to write. Appalling pay. Four or five years ago, those would have been $0.50 per task, not $0.13. They're taking the piss.
They were $0.18 per task in 2021

I'm thinking of a slightly more in-depth job where there was a significant amount of additional tagging, to be fair. But yes, the pay used to reasonable. It's now just not worth the effort.

There are test tasks planted randomly and if you get those wrong they kick you out. You shouldn't be booted out for the ones with impenetrable accents or terrible audio quality

Yeah, I've done a few of these tasks before. I must have got careless because the plants were pretty obvious too as they were about a completely different topic! Never mind eh, although I'm hoping they've just kicked me out for 24 or 48 hours, and not until the project ends, as I could really do with the money atm.

The transcription task has ended, but I got an email that implies there will be another batch coming. Hope they pay out on the first batch soon ... but not holding my breath. Only did about a thousand of these, but it will still be nice to get paid for them.

I only did 400 and tbh that was a struggle. I would be reluctant to do more before first seeing what they paid for that batch. It would be like them to say they weren't up to scratch and only get paid for about 10 or something.
