Stockimo (earning money from IPhone photos)

Over on the green site today they are talking about Stockimo. You can download an app to upload photos taken by your phone and get royalties if your photos are used by advertiser's etc.

It did say people had varying experiences, but could be worth a go as a passive income stream. Just don't expect to get rich on it!

Has anyone used it on here? I just downloaded it and uploaded five photos to see if they get accepted.

Could see this working quite well if you have a good camera and are decent at macro photography

wonder how much regular 'I have a phone camera' type people make though it!

Update: I just had one photo accepted and one photo rejected. Will try and upload some more and see if I make any money!

I take all my photos on an iPhone because I don't have a camera, so it would be interesting to see if they accept mine, and how much money you can earn from the use of your images? Will check it out

In case it helps, I now have had 4 accepted. I have used an iPhone for years rather than a separate digital camera. The ones I sent in were ones I thought were nice landscapes or beaches etc from holiday. Now I have had some accepted I'm going to go back and submit all my nice landscapes from the past few years!

My highest scoring one was just an empty field with a few sheep in from the UK.

I have also found another similar site which seems to offer a high royalty using just photos from iPhone or Android called Foam. Downloaded it, but not uploaded anything yet.

I think there may be a few ones around as I stumbled across an article about someone who was developing software to allow uploads to multiple of these sites in just one click! However, it does look like these two are the biggest/most popular ones.

How much competition are your photos up against so you think in terms of people looking to buy?

So the way it works is that I think people will mark your photos and if they get a high enough average score it gets uploaded with the relevant description and tags you have used for it. When a newspaper or commercial advertising agency needs a photo they can search through and pick a photo. They pay a royalty and then a portion of this is sent to you.

The ones that get you the most money are the ones which are commercial advertising, but they require no people or buildings in them unless you have permission to use them. The majority I suspect will be for outside advertising which is then just a £7 ish a go (but could be more).

It's difficult to see the competition per se as you don't really know what they might be looking for exactly. This is where I feel the more on there the better... You can, however, see what photos customers have liked recently.

As I say... if you can get lots on there you'll probably make a few quid, but don't count on it making you rich. For me, I will just upload photos I have/will take anyway so if they want to pay me for that it isn't really any extra effort.

So most seemed to have feedback in 24 hours, the odd 1 seemed to take 48 hours. Mine all have feedback so I have uploaded a new set this afternoon.

I'm adding this to my list of passive income streams. I've been through my phone and found loads of potential pictures. I think I'll grab my daughter's camera and take some more on that as well. This shouldn't be too time consuming either. Hopefully we all make 'loadsamoney' from this.

I've had some waiting for 5 days now. I presume they have a backlog due to the Bank holiday. Looking through the photos that people have had approved lately, it looks like they are looking for shadow type photos at the moment.

Yes - I uploaded some more after I had some accepted and been 4 days now. Agree that there must be a bank holiday backlog..

I've uploaded photos before with no problem but now when I upload after adding Tags etc it uploads then comes back with "error. Parameter is not valid" and doesn't complete the process. Anyone else getting that?
