I'll start by introducing myself to the forum;

I'm a 23 year old marketing graduate who is shall we say, a little strapped for cash. This is due to many poor money decisions while being at university - i don't regret them all as i had a blast, but i could have definitely been smarter.

Since graduating last year, i have only had 2 temporary jobs which didn't work out. For this reason, i have slowly but surely exhausted all my funds to the point i've signed on to JSA to help me survive until i find employment (i wish i signed on earlier, as this has so far been a positive experience). I have recently been reading a lot of blogs and posts online regarding earlier retirement and have seen various reports of people retiring in there 30s or 40s because they have spent the last years working hard, saving, and earning money to enable them to do so and from this i was inspired to take control of my own finances: this thread was born!

So what are my goals?

- Find suitable employment (the most urgent matter for me as i want to stop lodging and get my own flat with a friend)
- Clear my debts (£500 credit card with Vanquis, £300 arranged overdraft with HSBC and a £1500 interest free overdraft from Santander)
- Start creating a regular income from the internet
- Work towards creating a passive income

In this thread i will post daily if possible, outlining what i have done, what i have earnt and any new goals i have.

Currently i am in the process of searching this forum and deciding what sites i want to sign upto and start investing my time into. So far i have:

-Clixsense
-Qmee

At least you enjoyed yourself and that is what going to college and university is partly apart - beer and study :)

One of the best tools to learn about anything including marketing is You Tube. I've found superb free information on various things including how to build a HTML website, how to build an email list with an autoresponder, converting documents to a PDF, uploading information to a server host and how to make fried rice :) Don't overlook this site as an educational tool. Do a search of what you're after and take notes on what you see and hear.

Best of Luck

So the weeks totals are as follows:

WhatUsersDo: £8.00
ClixSense: £1.85
ClicAndWalk: £1.95
Qmee: £0.11 (seems to have stopped working for me)
OnePulse: £2.53 (added in just over a quid already on there for ease)
ProlificAcademic: £6.85
MintCoins: £0.12

Extras: £5 for reaching 50 posts on here... and cashed out a £5 amazon voucher from MobileXpression

So overall i have earned £31.29 this past week... wouyld be very happy if i could continue at that pace. I don't see it happening :p

I also sold an old TV for £25 which i havn;t added to the totals but did help me out.

Will continue to try new apps and methods and eventually have a portfolio of the best which i will continually use.

Not having a good week so far as i have been busy with other things such as finding a job :p. However, i'm slowly plowing away and hope to hit £20 by the weeks end.

this is a very cool thread. I like these journey & tally threads on here. Well done for starting our journey to get rid of debt early in life. Seems like you're doing well so far.

One thing I think would be really useful/interesting to others like myself (if you don't mind the cheeky suggestion), is when you do your weeks tally, also how much time you had to spend (roughly) on each to get the amount you ended up with? I'm currently working full time and when I got on maternity leave I'll have loads of time but no money (and completely sleep deprived), so i' trying to work out which sites will require large time investments and which are the few-min jobbies, hence which things to sign up for :)

That's quite a difficult one for people to answer sometimes - let me explain why

I tend to do 2 hours 'working from home' a day

day 1: I do 2 hour of leapforce which pays above minimum wage and then I do a WhatUsersDo iPad test at £15 for 15mins

2 hours 15mins = £33 earned

day 2 : I spend my 2 hours doing Field Agent build checks. They pay £5 each and I rock out 10 of them in 2 hours and make £50

2 hours = £50

as you can see it varies quite a bit there. Personally I never do any work online / from home that pays out less than below minimum wage. This is because I work a fulltime job and only have so many hours a day to do this stuff.

Others on here are happy to use click sites and do surveys which obviously pay a lot less but are MUCH less involved than the sort of work maybe I and others do..

Jon explained it pretty well, it is very hard to put a number on it!

For me, i don't even spend 2 hours a day, probably only 1 and thats been rare this last week.

I mean; OnePulse, VoxPopMe, Clic and Walk has been really random as i just do the tasks when they come to my phone really so i don't exactly put any time aside to do them.

Clixsense i tend to just do wen i'm bored and this usually requires a little of time to be devoted to it, especially if you end up doing surveys.

I think the best advice i can give is to just dip your foot in and get a feel for it. Different sites and routines work differently for different people, and only through giving them a try can you decide whether or not it is worth keeping up with for you. For example, i earnt 0.50p on QuickThoughts this week, but it took me a while to complete the survey and i havn't had anymore since; upon realising the time it would take for me to reach cashout i have decided to drop that particular app.

So this week i havn'tkept track of anything but have still made a steady (not really significant) amount of extra cash. I've decided to take a different approach with this diary now and only count things i have cashed out. I think this will be more accurate and gives others a chance to see who is paying.

I cashed out £6.75 in Clic and Walk this week and $8.07 on Clixsense into my Paypal account.

Same as above really this past week. Cashed out £4.15 on Crowdology and trying to do those surveys as they come. Narrowed down my app list now so it's more manageable and working well. I'm currently using and working towards cashout in:

VoxPopMe
Clix and Walk
Crowdology
WhatUsersDo
Clixsense

and also just found my old swagbucks account which already has enough points for a £3 amazon voucher so decided to save up on there aswell.

In addition i have begun collecting nectar points and saving them up in the new Hive thing,

Quick Update:

Everything seems to come at once!
- Just withdrawn £21.35 from ProlificAcademic
- Recieved just over £4 from crowdology
- Recieved £32.35 from Mindswarms
- Randomly got sent an email from LinkedIn asking me to complete a survey and recieved £5 paypal for that.
- Will be getting paid £24 from WhatUsersDo this month

As well as all that, i am more than half way to the £10 cashout on VoxPopMe which i will continue working on. I'm also not far pff cashout on Swagbucks, ClixSense, ClicandWalk and OnePulse.

However, i will be completing the final part of the LF exam tomorrow and providing i get on to that i will be dropping ClixSense and OnePulse as i don't feel they are worth the time i put into them.

I will continue with all the other sites i've mentioned in this post, as well as continuing to save up Nectar Points for the year. I may add another survey site in the mix to do alongside crowdology but i start full time work on monday and will see how my time works out.

Oh and if anybody is interested, i am now saving up to rent a flat with my friend as i have spent way to long lodging.

Can't believe how well you are doing - you only joined this site less than 3 months ago!

If you had stayed on the green site you would probably still be trying to earn just through click sites and surveys ;)

Yeah since joining here i've earnt more than i ever did being on that site in previous years!

I wasn't totally new to all this when i joined, having had previous stints at earning online. Those however didn't last long as i was stuck doing surveys and clicking ads on the likes of clixsense, not really looking at the bigger picture and never really exploring new avenues to go down!

Definitely glad i signed up here anyway.
