I think it is worth trying to improve. The reason for that is because sponsored post opportunities are usually given out based on your DA (ie they want someone with 25+ or something)
Definitely. I am finding since using Disqus for comments I am ranking better.
Think the CommentLuv thing was having a negative impact as that means more links so can look a bit spammy as far as MOZ goes.
So just one improvement and it has already made a difference.
There's certainly value in having a high DA, but I still think that
focussing on DA is an odd strategic goal!
As independent bloggers we have limited time and resources. Focussing on abstract numbers like DA (which is effectively the new PageRank - a number that people can focus on but doesn't actually mean much) means that our actions are based on short-term tactics as we chase the DA unicorn.
It's more of a strategic thing. Would I rather focus upon core
business metrics, such as revenue, ROI, subscribed users and customers, or a fuzzy number which as even the company behind it acknowledges is pretty pointless as a way of gauging how well you've improved your site?
I do recognise the importance of DA for things like advertising and sponsorship, but jumping on the latest tactic is a short-term game. DA is an abstraction of MOZ's understanding of Google's unknown algorithm, and Google dislikes people trying to game the system.
Far better to focus on building value for your audience. That's what Google (and therefore MOZ) is looking for, and you should get rewarded for it. A DA-first approach seems the wrong way round to me.
