Bit surprised to see TMS for sale on Flippa again after just 14 months.

Will you stay if it changed hands again?

I like that nothing bad really changed since Jon sold up, but not sure how another owner would change it up!

I am sure the right person could do a lot with it, plenty of money to be made and interest in the topic is surely sky high. Wonder how much it's going for!
It says $28k atm I think, it’s usually based on what it’s making monthly. So seems way down from a year ago but I don’t know what it sold for then either!

That's about £22k, bargain.

Unless it turned into something unrecognisable I would stay. The helpful community is the reason I'm here so if that stays then I will

Thing is, how much money is this place actually making?

Personally, I only come here for the community in the forum. I don't think I've ever clicked on any of the site affiliate links. The blog is mostly rubbish to be honest, so I never read that either. As for the Amazon discount finder, well that's just a disguised Amazon affiliate link generator. Because Jon engaged with the forum a bit more he was able to push the matched betting links and other affiliates and generate more interest in the site and in turn, more traffic, to attract new advertisers. I don't think the new guy has been doing that.

I just took a look and it's sale price is now £20k and profit is apparently £829 a month. That's alright isn't it? Someone with technical skills, interest in the subject and time could definitely make a go of it.

Oh dear! That’s a shame but this Forum really needs someone to really take interest in the site and have the time to spend on it and engage with members too to make it really worth running. I’m staying whatever happens. It’s good to see the ways people make money and any new sites and new ways to earn get put in here too. So it’s useful even with a potential new owner.

I agree. I stayed after Jon left and there's definitely been a lack of care taken over the place since then, but the interaction with you lot, and the different ideas people bring to the table still make it worthwhile for me.

I'd say that's a good price for a site with this potential. I'd buy it myself if I had the time to do the necessary!

Ditto. If I had that money to spare right now, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I know just what I'd do with it too to increase engagement.

I mean, of course I'd stay because as others have said, the community and ideas exchange is all. I wouldn't have ANY of my non-musical sources of income if it wasn't for TMS (and yes, I've checked - every single current source of income is a TMS tip from these very forums...).

However, I do think the forum mods might appreciate more help (and yes, I would take that on, except I have a book to write and the deadline is running at me faster than Usain Bolt...), especially to catch the increasing number of scammers finding their way in. The last one I locked horns with (as a few might remember!) was crafty as hell, spending a few weeks engaging and pretending to be legit before selling his pyramid scheme to the unwary.

I meant nothing HAD changed not nothing BAD changed. That’s a typo

I know I’m not here as much atm (time restraints with a 2 year old at home and no childcare!) as I was before but I’d stay as long as the owner isn’t someone I can’t stand

The site was making significantly more when Jon ran it. So I’m sure it could return to that potential too.

I’ve no spare cash sadly

I agree. The heart seems to have gone out of it but I stay through loyalty as I too, have found all my money-making sources through this site. I also enjoy watching how creative people have got and Topaz drowning in books. And of course, the generosity of people sharing their knowledge and experience.

Yes, those are things I've always loved here. Plus seeing what people win and their new blog posts etc!

The reason I have stayed is solely because of this forum and down mainly to pretty much all the people who have contributed to this particular thread. They are the heartbeat of what goes on here, even more so since Jon left. I have nothing bad to say about James. Maybe he just found the site wasn't quite what he expected when he bought it or simply hasn't got the amount of time available that he needs to dedicate to make it work like he/we envisaged it would?

Ditto nothing against James whatsoever. I get the feeling that to make TMS pay in the way Jon managed, it needs to be someone's full-time job (or they need to be in a position to have people running it for them).

The site would definitely make a good little pension for someone with the SEO knowledge, enthusiasm and time on their hands. I'm definitely ruled out on the time side of things, unfortunately
I only have enthusiasm and even that's not a constant, lol. Fingers crossed someone comes along.

It would be great if we could pool our money and buy it as a community with split ownership, but it would be a logistical nightmare. I would LOVE it if someone among us could take it over, and then the community could chip in their respective talents to keep the site as thriving as it once was.

I did wonder about this, but we'd REALLY need to nail it down legally. I'm in the difficult position at the moment where I could potentially be in for £1000 or not even be able to find £1 (don't ask...).

What would be the position on crowdfunding it? Would anyone be interested in crowdfunding it for a dividend? Might not work either, brain just spitballing.

I would as realistically I wouldn't be able to do more than I currently do ie post!

I mean, I only suggest crowdfunding as I have a £25 stake (I know, a FORTUNE...) in a local music and arts venue. We originally tried to buy a local pub that was closing down - however, even though sale was agreed, a developer undercut us and that was that.

I just wonder if a dividend for stake might work. I don't ever expect to see anything back for my £25, and nor do I want to, but obviously the cost of TMS is rather smaller.

I genuinely have no idea how this would work. Any crowdfunding experts in here?
