Using apps if not in a city?

Hi,

I've signed up to a few of the apps mentioned on here (Yoobic, Streetbees, ClicandWalk) and with the exception of 1 task on Yoobic I've not had anything in my area or within 20 miles. I live in a large town but not that close to a city.

I may just be far too impatient (most likely) but I wondered whether other people who don't live near a city have the same lack of opportunities?

It varies from app to app

with Roamler, Every thursday the flower checks come on, they are usually all over the place. You need to be level 2 and above from memory to see them

Yoobic is just getting started

Field Agent is having a quiet spell at the moment but with Task360 that isn't suprising

What it's like this week may not be what it is like next week

Ok, thanks very much for advising [member=1]Jon@TheMoneyShed[/member]

Unfortunately I'm on Android so unable to use Task360 or FieldAgent. However, I'm in the lookout for a new phone so debating whether it's worth investing in Apple to get access to these...

Definitely. I don't live in a city and get plenty of jobs showing up. :)
If you can afford to get an IPhone you would earn more in the long run.

I've been mulling the decision of 'going to the darkside' as well, so getting an IPhone looks like it's gonna happen sooner rather than later after reading feedback from members.

I suppose the likes of cashconverters etc can be used to get a second hand one to reduce the initial impact of the cost. Would an Iphone 5 be the best choice for entry level or would IPhone 4 be good enough?

Well you've all persuaded me. Just bought a refurb iphone 5S from eBay (did loads of checks, looks like a reputable seller).

Hope I don't regret it! *gulp*

It depends where you live. I have a couple show up in various apps for 4 miles away, and then nothing for 20+ miles, and as I have no transport I've just lost interest in trying to use these. I think if you want to use them however, you will find work.

I live in a tiny village, I work just outside of Cambridge and I travel home via Newmarket.

And it is completely hit and miss! It is worth keeping the apps though and making sure notifications are turned off. If I'm visiting an area for whatever reason (usually shopping) there might be a few jobs to do. Or there might be a ton in Cambridge, therefore making the parking fee worth it to go and spend an hour to two knocking them out.

Don't forget there's non-location based apps too. They might be iOS but there's Spare5, Clic and Walk, Apptrailers, AppNana and more.

I don't know where you live, but I live in a fairly rural village but I have good access to Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield etc and so many to make plenty of money from the apps.

I also have two phones, an android and an iPhone. I develop for iOS and I'm currently running ios9 which Yoobic refuses to run on. I bought an Android phone last week and I've already made the money back for the cost from Yoobic's Asda jobs.

You just have to be patient, and QUICK when the jobs appear. I've never managed to do any FA billboard jobs because they disappear in minutes around here.

I live in Essex, not a huge distance from Chelmsford so would expect to find a few jobs. Managed to do two Asda jobs on Yoobic for the same store (although they've only validated one at the moment) so hoping that more will come up on there. There are a few in other areas near here but require a bit of travel. May be with it though.

I'm also mulling over whether to get an iPhone for the earning 'apportunities' (boom, boom).

I couldn't justify a new iPhone for this at present; do you think that a second-hand 4 or 5/5C be adequate for the foreseeable future for earnings apps?

I tend to have a rule-of-thumb that it's worth investing in something if I get a ROI within 6 months. I live in a rural village but travel into various big towns and cities (along the Manchester, Oldham, Huddersfield, Leeds corridor) a couple times a week. Do you think that £20-30 per month is a reasonable expectation?

Thanks - there seem to be a few reasonable deals on the 5C at the moment, so might plump for one.

I'm not sure my trousers would welcome any burger tasks!

I don't think it's a city/village thing with the apps, I think it depends on which part of the country you live in and the demand for checks in that area. I'm in Bristol and I did quite well with Youbic and Streetbees last month, but there's been nothing at all this month. I've just checked Roamler and the only flower checks there are the same three that have been sitting around for weeks. If anyone is near Cardiff, the tasks there seem to sit around for a while - they show up for me, but it's not worth my while when I've got to pay £6.50 to get across the bridge.

That's the thing. By definition there are more shops and businesses (and presumably tasks) in town than the villages, and fuel and parking costs would cancel out much of the earnings. I could only really justify using the apps if I was in town already, unless there were 6 or 7 jobs which could be done in one go.

(I'm not whinging, just getting a feel for what's realistic!)

I've been in Cornwall visiting my parents and had nothing this week, just doing stuff on click and walk.

Hi. I'm in Lincolnshire and only managed one Field Agent task in the month that I've had it so far. Even though I live in a town the jobs seem to be quite far away. I'm struggling on other apps too, street bees nothing, click and walk odd home bits and streetspotr jobs are 90 miles away! I'm wondering if it's because I'm quite rural.
