I'm going to try and get mine done sooner this year.. really don't know why I leave it till middle of January!

I have ended up with a NI bill for about 800 quid (don't ask) - Mr Queen doesn't know, yet :(

not sure child benefit comes into play does it?
Do you not do the NI exception certificate - I do

They said I could only do it if my earnings were under 5.5 grand. This is from a good few years ago. Chammy said something about child benefit.

Did it start with FU and end in ELL?

Some of it did, yes ;D

I think I made a record of using all the swear words known to man in a single sentence.

With the 5.5 thousand is that from one job or altogether? I pay NI through the agency if I get any work from them but still have to make two payments a year at the post office. It seems for some weeks I end up paying twice.

Just my earnings altogether. If you earn over about 15k as self-employed I think ya have to pay in Jan & July.

I pay my Class 2 NICs twice a year and everything else owed when I fill in my return. I like to get my done prompt too, just to get it out of the way.

The exemption certificate is indeed only if you earn less than £5,885 per year.

I don't know the exact details with regards to child benefit but as there is a cap on the earnings a household can have now with regards to this (£50,000+ in household money affects it I believe) then it could be that this is making a difference to you, depending on the overall incomings to your home.

It isn't total income over £50k.
Just when one person earns over that.
It doesn't matter if the other parent earns nothing.

Don't start me on this subject though!!!
