I wouldn't say it's a scam. Yes they pay pennies, yes they get you to pay a refundable deposit. No, there's no guarantee of work but the young lady who set the company up wouldn't have her face splashed all over the internet if it were intended to be a scam. I think they mean well.

I got accepted too (thought I'd give it a go despite my messy writing) but probably won't go ahead with it as god knows how long it would take to get my £25 back in earnings. If they haven't already, I think they'll probably end up with more writers than they do work to give out and lots of people will earn either a few pounds or nothing

People throw the word 'scam' around too easily.

Why do they need people to pay £25 for the 'privilege' of working for them? The golden rule with work from home opportunities is that if they ask for money upfront AVOID. Do they tell you what this 'writers pack' consists of and why you have to pay £25 to get it?

I've emailed them with my concerns, maybe this one is genuine so I will give them a chance to convince me and will apologise if I got them wrong.

I emailed them some questions of my own too. The starter pack includes some sample notecards, fountain pen and cartridges and a lightpad and grid rule and usb power cable.

The founder is only 24, same age as my daughter. She's trying to do some good in the world. Gotta give her a chance. Search for her on Youtube.

They may not be an outright scam, but I won't be touching them with a bargepole. I too follow the logic that I never pay for work from home "opportunities".

Putting you over a barrel to basically buy some stationary from them in the hope of future (minimal) recompense? Nope.
