You mean person! How can you be so cruel as to wish a ps4 on your son! Xbox One is much better..... :)

LOL!

Purely because I have a big catalogue of PS1 and PS2 games (Honest)

I had a ps1 and ps2 but then I got an xbox 360. We have an xbox one too, but I prefer my 360 as I have loads of games for it, and the kinect is always funny after a few drinks. We had my mam dancing to Gangnam Style at Christmas; it was dead funny :)

I do like the look of the Xbox.

To be honest, the thing that puts me off most about it is the type of games. My son is only 4 and although we still obviously decide what games come in to the house - I would end up getting CoD etc.

But, I have no real preference, probably just used to getting Sony!

My son is 8 and has been playing CoD since he was 6; me and the OH play it. He's allowed to play online but I have settings preventing him from listening to/talking to/adding people who aren't on his friends list, which is vetted by me.

We've been saving £2 coins and 50p pieces in a terramundi since Feb 2013, and unless I'm totally skint they all go in there. I've tried saving them before in accessible pots but always dipped into it for change for parking etc, so a terramundi was the best option. Last year I promised DS that we'd have a holiday this year so we started putting the coins in as a way of saving holiday spending money. He loves putting coins in it! We go away in a month so I've promised him we'll open it at the weekend and count it. I'm hoping for around £150.

I'm a bit concerned about whether the bank will accept a load of coinage though - thoughts? I bank with First Direct so will have to pay it in at a branch of HSBC.

Should do if you bag it up - you can get the baggys from the bank and it'll tell you how much of each denomination to put in the bags - you can't mix and match though. I think its £20 for £2 coins and £10 for 50p coins :)

At Nationwide there is a limit. You can only put £5 worth of coins in at any one time.
I just tend to build the 1p and 2p's up then use the coin machine at Morrisons then get a free coffee or breakfast out of it.
There is a fee on those machines but it saves lots of time sorting and bagging it up then if there is more than £5 worth it means a second trip to put it in which costs time plus getting there petrol etc so we still gain more by using the Coin Machine at the Supermarket.
Only if I was going to the bank anyway would I do the bank thing. However since I rarely need to visit Nationwide as I can pay everything and do everything on line and hardly ever get a cheque it isn't worth making a special trip just to pay a few coins into my account.

My local Post Office take my coins in :)

We opened the terramundi at the weekend - it contained £152.50. Not a fortune but it'll pay for the bulk of our holiday spending money :) . Going to get another one and start saving again.

This sounds like a great idea but unfortunately, I don't use cash that much. Any spare change is used in the self service checkouts at supermarkets.

I did something very similar to this when saving for our Florida holiday last year. My girlfriend got me one of those tubs, and every day when I came home, I would put any £1 and £2 coins straight into the tub, never to be seen again.

Since I worked from the office at least a day a week, I regularly took notes out of the cashpoint and you'd be amazed how once the money is out of your account, you tend to forget about the loose change you have.

By the time the holiday came around (8 months later), I cracked open the tin to find around £500. Holiday spending money was sorted, and I never even noticed it had gone

I have an old coin sorter that puts separates them into clear tubes. It was £2 from Oxfam and makes more noise than a JCB but makes emptying the change from your purse pretty addictive ! They 1ps, 2ps and 5ps always fill up and need bagging up first though!

I had a flatmate that tried this but he just ended up taking the coins out of the sealed jar with tweezers every time we had a takeaway. Safe to say he didnt save much.

I've printed off a list from the Royal Mint's website of all the different designs you can get with the aim of collecting the full set. I feel if I have a 'collection' going I will be less likely to dip into it when needed. It also gives me a good excuse to rummage through my OH's change to see if there's a coin I need for my 'collection'.

I'm planning on getting my daughter the collector albums from Royal Mint for her coin collection. Yes the coins will be used, but she loves collecting the different designs.

I know somebody who does something similar but with £50 notes. I always think that money could be doing something better than sitting in a folder waiting to be spent :p

we used to save our coins in a demi john, the neck was slightly un round so the £2 coins would only fit in at one point didn't really factor in the problem of getting these out come tallying up time along with all the other coins trying to come out behind them, luckily i have the patience of a saint and eventually got £856 out, hsbc changed it all up for me as i had bagged it all without it having to be paid into my account, this year i have discarded the demi john in favour of an empty water cooler bottle, which is huge and is 1/6 full but i keep noticing the slant of coins in there which means some pilfering has been going on for the newsagent so i shall be glad when it is too heavy to lift or tip over, in fact i may superglue a lid on with a slot cut in it ;)

This is a really good idea but i would need a hardened steel tin with a timelock to stop me from dipping in every time ive got no money for the pub
