My goal study is still awaiting review, but I have a feeling I might know what's happened here.

On the last page of the study, underneath the link to click through and get your code, was a small button with 2 arrows on it. Rather than click on the link, I think you needed to copy it, click the button with the arrows on (which submits your answers to the researcher), and THEN paste the link into your browser to get your completion code. This is what I've done up till now and I haven't had a rejection yet.

It's clearly an issue that Prolific need to address, as it's far from obvious that you need to click on the link AND on the button below it. The old method (where you were given a code to paste in manually) seemed to work better.

As I say, I'm only guessing, but that might be the issue here.

You should be able to see your completion code in you studies list

(by the way PA much better now you have the latest ones at the top so we don't have to scroll down)
I always check that it's there before closing tabs. I see that as assurance that the data is associated with my account. If I don't get a code (hasn't happened for quite a while now), I keep a note of the code.

I've had a few studies like this now. It clearly states that you have to copy the link AND click the arrows. I'd like to see the link being clickable, however, when it was like that in the past and you clicked it, it took you off the page (rather than open a new window/tab) & you lost the ability to click on the arrows. Luckily I was able to use the back arrow, ignored some message to the effect that I couldn't do that & then clicked on the arrows. Since then I've copied & pasted, then clicked the arrows.

For me there is a lack of consistency on how you complete these. Some surveys have the situation as described above, some you just have to click on the arrows. Some have clickable links, some don't.

I've done quite a few surveys (about £60 worth now) & I do find it a bit confusing & at times I almost spend more time checking that I've done everything right at the end than I have on the survey itself.

Well, I seem to remember that I did copy the link and then clicked the arrows. I have a completion code so that makes me think it was submitted ok. I get sometimes a study might be rejected if you make a mistake submitting it or miss an attention check but I do wonder if sometimes the researcher wants to use their allocated rejection allowance to save some money and then has to come up with an excuse to reject submissions. Not everyone will chase it up for the sake of £1.25.

I'm still waiting to hear about the goal study - will post an update when I have one. It is confusing that some studies have a clickable link at the end and others have a code to cut and paste - the cut and paste option is safer in my opinion, as it stops you from accidentally navigating away before clicking the final box with the arrows in.

Am wondering if there was a technical problem with this study. It doesn't seem that anyone had it accepted yet. This happened before with the consumer study where everyone had it rejected.

I've had the goals one accepted and just to add to the confusion about how to finish the studies, all I did was go to the link given at the end. I didn't click the forward arrows in the survey itself, neither did I input a completion code. So who knows what the correct procedure should be.

Yes, there's clearly an issue with the submission process here. A single link that submitted your answers to the researcher and generated the completion code would seem the most obvious solution. Hopefully Prolific can sort that out.

Odd, isn't it? I've had mine accepted too, but I copied & pasted the link, AND clicked the forward arrows. I'm more confused than ever now!

I saw this thread before I did the goals one. So, like Rob, I copied and pasted the link and also clicked the arrows just to be sure. I had it approved just an hour or so later.

I've just had the goals one rejected, have emailed the researcher regarding the lack of obvious submission process at the end. I don't even have a completion code for it. I also don't remember having to enter my prolific ID, but presumably they still know who I am since they emailed me to reject it.

Hey guys,

The researcher (Betty Chang) told us that there was a bug with the survey software (Qualtrics), so the last survey page wasn't displayed properly. If you message her, she will sort it out for you... she already has unrejected many (mistakenly rejected) submissions.

In principle, just follow the instructions in the studies, then you will get paid. Researchers have the freedom to use completion codes or completion links – they will choose whatever suits their study design better. It doesn't matter in which of the two ways you complete a study.
