Field agent have been around now for a number of years in the UK. Their pay has always been decent (around £4.50 upwards) and their work load is pretty consistent.
Over the last few years Roamler, StreetSpotr, Clic & Walk etc have all decided to come over to UK shores however reception appears to them have been mixed. (Just check out their social media pages or in-app communication pages)
People seem to be complaining about work that involves taking a few photos, answering a few questions and getting paid £2 a time. Especially it seems when the goal posts always seem to be moving in regards to validating the work that you do.
The question is, have Field Agent just set the bar TOO high in the UK with decent pay for decent tasks? Why are other similar companies offering work that is (a) more complex and (b) pays less?
Market Force pay pretty low fees for some of their work yet people always do them, is it OUR fault for doing the work at £2 and really we have nothing to moan about and are in reality the minority and really there will always me a market of workers willing to do the work for £2 a time.
I think this sort of stuff has only really reared its head over the last year or so when Roamler dropped their fees for the weekly Flower Tasks and their very work heavy mushroom checks appeared.
Then StreetSpotr appeared and offered work for £1 a time doing store checks. Yet the work gets done and so the client is happy and when the repeat work appears it is pitched at the same level.
Next year I think is going to be a very interesting year in the app earning world. I worry that us workers are going to be seen as a commodity and the work we do now is going to be seen as crowd-sourcing which I think is a VERY bad thing for us workers in the long run.
Thoughts?
