I was a little annoyed with the second test. Without going into details, the official rating for 3 hits was contradictory to the matrix, which left me feeling a bit robbed.

I had a LOT of distractions while on my final few questions though, which didn't help.

Yes I found that the ratings were incorrect according to their matrix. You can appeal on the final test if you think the ratings are outdated.

I've got a free day tomorrow so I am going to start then. Never done anything like this before, kinda sounds a bit difficult to pass reading other posts on results etc. Are you going to try again?

I'm going to give it my best shot, never done anything like this before so the learning/testing experience will be good.

I wish you the best for tomorrow. It does seem daunting at first. Keep the Matrix page open (or print it if you can).

The best advice was from my mentor, and that is to read and understand the guide, and take your time with every query (hit). I'll be honest, I occasionally breezed through some easier ones and then came unstuck when my confidence was high. They suggest taking between 2-5 hours. I completed both in less than 3hrs. That's not a boast, I should have took longer and my score could have been higher.

Even though I disagreed with some of the hits I got 'wrong', I kicked myself for the ones I should've got. Just take your time, and good luck

So I applied for this position and after completing the training, I failed. My own fault really, I didn't check the feedback on my training before taking the qualification test. I thought it would be on the app but it was attached to the email. I probably made the same mistakes on the training as I did on the qualification.

To be honest though.. I don't mind. I didn't enjoy the training and would only have continued to get paid. I've never done this type of work before and I thought it would be simple.. typing audio. My wpm is 90 but none of this counted here. The tags really got on my nerves.. I had to go back each time and figure out which ones to use and remove the grammar. Is all audio transcription work like this? Can someone recommend me a good one?

I have training with Appen today for web search. Hope that goes my way instead.

Audio transcription is definitely not easy and there is a certain knack to it. A fast typing speed is good but not everyone is suited to audio. [member=545]takenotetyping[/member] is on this forum and if you search for the thread, it will give you all the info you need.

My advice would be to record something from the radio/tv and see how long it takes you to type out verbatim and how easy you find it. This will give you a good indication as to whether audio transcription is for you and how much you are likely to earn per hour. Even as a trained audio typist, it can take 3-4 times as long as the actual audio to type accurately and listen back for omissions/errors etc. Most transcription companies will pay per length of audio NOT long how you take to type it. HTH
