1) Lose weight
2) Pay off my debts using MB
3) Get my black belt

Last year my resolution was to be happier, and I have been. I've let things bother me considerably less and I don't think I've cried more than a few times all year, and that was because of serious things (loved one passing away, baby things etc).

Next year's resolutions:

1. Stay debt free
2. Give my lovely husband a surprise £5,000 (this will be near the end of the year as I have something in mind)
3. Have an amazing year with my husband and daughter, put us first and avoid letting family cause so much of a headache with their drama
4. Blog at least 8 times every month, even once the baby is here
5. Make at least £10,000 once back to work from maternity leave

I think that's it, I may add more. Thanks for the thread and good luck to everyone.

What a lucky husband! Mine will be lucky if I give him a surprise £5

Thanks. I hope I can do it as only using selected earnings and I'll be on MA for most of the year so not 'allowed' to work!

2.5 years ago I wanted to quit my mean retail job and he promised to pay all the bills. 2.5 years later he still does, without a moan, and so most of my money goes on savings/fun etc. I also pay for the food shopping and the holidays and any items for the home, so I do contribute quite a bit now. But I want to give him 5,000 next year as I know he wants a shiny newer car and that's what he'd spent it on. Just hoping I can hide the money without him noticing. I'm actually quite excited at the challenge and think it'll motivate me to do lots of money saving while on maternity allowance X

- Move House (handed in an application yesterday for a lovely one, will see what happens).
- Make some more friends.. Outside of work.
- Get a new job.
- Start an English GCSE course.
- Have 1 week a month alcohol free.

I talk to people inside work but since I moved here about 2.5 years ago, I haven't made any real friends outside of work. I find it hard because there's not a lot of hobby groups out there that I want to join, and I don't really have any hobbies. I have a bit of a short attention span with somethings.

I tried to start a GCSE course this year, but they faffed me about so I'm going to give it a shot next year! I want my GCSE! I'm perfectly capable of getting it, I just don't want to pay money for it when I can get it from a college for free.

The alcohol free week, that's just for me. I don't drink a lot. But I tried having a week off not long ago and I just felt better. Think I slept a bit better.

Feel like we are all more or less going for the same things here ;)

Mines are:

Lose Weight
Clear debts
Cut down on drinking
I would like to finally get a blog up and running, but with the MB I have let this slip a bit.

Here's to 2016 then

I'm travelling next year so don't will have much going on apart from that..
My goal is to read, see and learn more through next year.
Last year, I had passed some exams, now I only have one left before I get qualified as an accountant. I took the exam yesterday and not sure whether I will be able to pass it but ah well.

Oh and I want to make a blog for my travels!

May main resolution is to get off my backside and get some exercise. I started Couch to 5K just before we moved here and was doing quite well, but the only off-road areas here are on clay so it's like a quagmire or a sheet of ice any time it's rained (most of the year). Running on the pavements round here means getting CO2 poisoning as they're so busy.

My hope is that we'll move somewhere else next year - husband is due a move in the autumn and although we've been here for 2 years we've never settled.

My NY resolution last year was to stop being such a doormat and people pleaser. It worked - I've learned to say 'no' to things I don't want to do without too much guilt, stopped capitulating to other people's needs and wants all the time and no longer give in to other people's demands as a matter of course. I want to continue this, and also:

- start my own business (quite a biggie, that one!)
- make a decent amount of money through self employment
- pay off a big chunk of my debt over and above normal repayments
- improve my running and achieve new PB's for all the different distances I run
- improve my diet and eat less junk food (I love cooking but eat too many crisps, biscuits etc between meals)
- be happier, more positive and increase my confidence, which should follow naturally if I stick to all of the above

Great thread, thanks for starting [member=277]Chammy[/member]. It'll be interesting to look back at it this time next year and see how far we've all come. :)

I'm going to order mine from most likely to least likely.

  • Make £200 a month (mostly from MB I imagine but I'd like to get into some other stuff), I just signed on a used car yesterday and would prefer not to have to touch my regular income for repayments.
  • Get the house more organised, it's a bit messy at the moment and there are a number of projects I'd like to get sorted that we currently can't.
  • Pay off the 0% credit card that has been rolling around for the past few years, each time it comes up I stick in on another 0% balance transfer deal, I'd like to actually be able to clear it off this time!
  • Get a pay rise at work, my pay hasn't moved in almost 2 years now so it would be nice to get a bit more money coming in from that.
  • Get into blogging, I keep trying but never actually manage to get a blog going.
  • Get back into running, I got about 1/2 way through Zombies Run 5k (Zombie themed couch to 5k, highly recommended) but then stopped over a year ago for various reasons.
  • Make another £200/month (or more!), while it should be possible with MB, I'll probably need to add more money making ventures into this.

I think that's everything, at least all I can think of for now.

I lose interest, I'll set up a blog, write on it for a few weeks (if that) then just stop.

Quite often I spend more time setting up the blog than writing on it!

  • Create the website idea I have, this has been rolling around in my head for a few months now but not got it off the ground at all.

I think that's everything, at least all I can think of for now.

Added to my list in bold, completey unrelated to the blog but I'd really like to motivate myself enough to do it, highly unlikely unfortunately!

Great thread Chammy!

I set goals at about this time of the year. I don't think I've ever achieved all of the goals I've set in a particular year but to me it's not the end of the world, the way I look at it is if I didn't set any goals I wouldn't achieve one of them.

My goals seem to center around 3 areas: Health & Fitness, Re-shaping my IT Consultancy career, and making extra money on-line.

Here's my summarized list to be achieved by the end of 2016.

Health & Fitness:
Weight Loss (steadily lose about 2 stone)
Running - 5k in under 30 mins, then 5k in under 25 mins, then 10k in under 1 hour
210 alcohol free days (to help with the 2 above) + Dry January

Re-shaping my IT Consultancy career:
Obtain a variety of Management and Technical certifications
Expand my local network (I want to work much closer to home i.e. Yorkshire)

Making extra money on-line:
Pay off £6k of my mortgage using a mix of MB, User Testing, Blogging, and selectively picking Surveys, Offers, Search, and Draws.
Contribute more to TMS forums

I have a bunch of lifestyle habits that I want to change too:
Stop pleasing other people and instead put myself first
Control stress
Make work fun

I start working towards my goals as soon as I set them - no waiting for 2016 to start. It’s easy to say "in the new year I'll ..." because the new year is still 2 weeks away ;-)

It's going to be a very busy 2016 so I have planned in holidays and days off around birthdays, anniversaries, bank holidays etc...

Good luck everyone!

Oh where to start!

I've always been a big fan of resolutions, I like the feeling of starting afresh.

My main aim over the next year is to increase our income. This past year has been so stressful and I have been worrying constantly. I'm not prepared to go through that again.

Here is my full list, I know if I document it here, I will be more inclined to stick to it.

1. Earn an extra 400-500 a month
2. Get back into Matched Betting (I had to use my bank to pay some stuff)
3. Do more fun things with my kids and husband
4. Worry less and do more meditation
5. Get back into exercise. Pre child 2 I was very fit and with my life being so busy (and my ability to make excuses), I have seriously let this slide. I turn 45 in 2016 so I am using this as a goal. I need to lose 10lb to get back to my pre-baby weight, but I can't seem to motivate myself
6. Attend to my poor neglected blogs (2 of them). I love writing, but I am the world's best procrastinator
7. Sort my health issues out. I have EDS and I really need to sort out my hands and feet (splints and arch supports required!), plus no 5 will help a lot with this.
8. Procrastinate less
9. Be more organised
10. Keep on top of the ironing and housework (I have high standards that I try to maintain)
11. Read more

Good luck to everyone. 2015 has been a bit up and down for me (more downs than ups) so am determined 2016 will be better!
10.
