Have just seen on Payoneer that they are going to be charging 29.95 USD if you make less than 2,000.00 USD a year. I only use Payoneer for Appen and not had any work for ages from them. I think it will be time to close my Payoneer account. Just thought I would let you all know as Appen and Payoneer seem to have kept it quiet.

Having so much bother with Payoneer atm, I had to close my bank account linked to them, so ordered the Payoneer card, thinking it would work the same as Paypal, and would be a good way to use the money on there. But oh no, when I tried to convert my USD into GBP and stick it on the card, it said the option to convert to local currency wasn't available Something which for the life of me I couldn't understand. Because what use is USD to someone in the UK?
So basically I'm stuck with a card that I can't put any money onto, because I can't get it changed from USD to my own currency.
Paypal is 100 times better than this company, but of course Appen have to be awkward and use them.
As for the part you wrote that is ridiculous, but not surprising with Payoneer, I would close it as well if Appen had any other option to use but it seems they don't.

Sorry you have had problems with them. I had lots of problems setting up my account a couple of years ago and finally got it verified and working and now this. I am going to close it as I don't have any money in it at the moment.

Thank you, yes I was shocked at how bad they are compared to Paypal. With a Paypal card your balance is automatically on the card, just like a bank account really, so I assumed this would be the same.
I hope you can close it without any bother, I couldn't even delete my unused bank account, without having to contact them, which was extremely difficult.

Ugh, this is a ridiculously high fee for such crap service. I use Payoneer for OneForma but there's no way I can earn $2,000 a year with them

does this apply to inactive accounts too? I have not worked for Appen for about 2 years and probably won't now as unlikely to make $2k a year.

I think it is all accounts if you make less than the $2k they will charge.

I've started the process of closing it now especially as Appen shows no signs of being busy again. I think if Crisp really goes downhill I will have to get that job in the real world!

I opened my Payoneer account in February - but although Appen told me I was suitable for a couple of projects they never contacted me to start anything and they have this "Don't call us, we'll call you" policy. I thought it was a fee that applied if the account wasn't used in a year. I can't see myself having $20,000 go through the account in a year but $20,000 is a ridiculous amount for what is basically gig economy work. I worked for Appen about six or seven years ago (going from memory) and they paid into Paypal then. I don't know when it changed.

Oh I didn’t know this!
Mine has been inactive since 2020 nothing charged though just checked in my account though I have no funding sources listed in there except for PayPal and they haven’t taken anything from there.
So I am now closing it down never use it anyway so no point having it. Nothing with Appen for ages and that was the only time I used it.

It's 2K, not 20K, just FYI.
I see they deducted $30 from my balance as an 'inactive account' in April... I only left money in it because you can't withdraw under $50 :(
I'm on an Appen project now, so I'll have to keep it open I guess.

Breezi, you certainly need and deserve to be paid. Real world banks impose charges sometimes. I've about 8 months to make up my mind (till Feb '24).

Without doxing myself, my real life name is Irish sounding though I'm UK born and have an English accent. I've been invited to take part in a project for Gaelic speakers - very nice for Gaelic speakers but I don't speak Gaelic and haven't claimed to do so in my profile so I'm flummoxed.

I got the same email, and I only have British English listed on my profile too. I think they've sent it out in error.

I do have a little Gaelic left over from being a kid but I don't think it would be enough for whatever is required. Oh yes, and I have never done Appen :ROFLMAO:

I've just heard about Payoneer starting to charge a ridiculous high fee and as I only use it for Appen and there work as dried up I've been trying to close my Payoneer account but can't seem to find anyway of doing this within the settings. When I've googled it and it informs the process but I think it must be out of date as the tab isn't there. Has anyone managed to close there's and if so could you let me know how please?
